In the box of Nadine Hunter's belongings is a copy of 'Wuthering Heights'. Chloe Pirrie (Grace Matlock) portrayed Emily Bronte, the author of Wuthering Heights, in the miniseries 'To Walk Invisible'.
St. Ursula's Day is celebrated in October 21; which puts the date of this story at October 21, 2016.
The inciting incident of this episode is inspired by the premise of Agatha Christie's Ordeal by Innocence; a long lost witness suddenly turns up to exonerate an accused suspect - a suspect who tragically has already died as a result of their wrongful conviction. The word "innocence" is used pointedly in the first scene as a "textual wink" to those familiar with Christie's work.
The third act realization is built upon the premise of De Palma's Blow Out, in which an indecipherable, unintelligible sound, is blown-up and scrutinized as a possible clue to solving the murder. As this episode marks Det. Jack Mooney's first real case on the island of Saint Marie, borrowing the plots from these two heavy weights, was a sure fire strategy to make his solo debut a successful one.
In Susannah Doyle's (Julie Matlock) diary on the left hand page there is a five digit scribbled number. However, on the opposite page the name Agnes Dahan 080815705 is written, who just happens to be the crew's 'Production Buyer'.
This episode is a mash-up of Agatha Christie's Ordeal By Innocence, and Brian De Palma's Blow Out.
