- Mary discovers there is a leak within her inner circle and sets out to uncover the traitor. Queen Catherine goes to extremes to regain some of her lost power, while Queen Elizabeth attempts to use Narcisse to further her quest for supremacy.

Butt f the game is a Scottish village in contested border land, besieged by the English, to whom supplies must be sent while misleading the enemy, whose moles foiled three attempts. John Knox visits the English court, where he narrowly escapes entrapment by Elizabeth, Gideon and Narcisse. Narcisse, frustratingly unable to avenge Lola, sabotages Elizabeth's attempt to allow Darnley to marry Keira. At French court, Charles is increasingly absent from his royal duties, leaving Catherine to block Leeza's attempts to impose Spanish influence there by repatriating chancellor Narcisse, but Charles secretly suffers from a serious illness.
