Hallmark of the Devil (2015)
*** (out of 4)
This twelve minute featurette from Calum Waddell has Fangoria writer Michael Gingold discussing Hallmark and their advertising, which managed to make hits out of films like THE LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT, MARK OF THE DEVIL and Mario Bava's BAY OF BLOOD. One of the recurring subjects is how the company would change titles from one territory to another and this includes the Bava film going as THE LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT PART II in certain areas. For the most part this is a fun featurette that gives you a good idea of how Hallmark worked back in the day and best of all is that there are plenty of promotional materials and posters for the films in question. If you're a fan of these films then you'll enjoy seeing how they were sold in the United States.
