We get two writer/directors for the price of one here but only one, Gerard Jugnot, was involved in both capacities, the other, Isabelle Mergault, is just there to look cute, act brilliantly, and provide support. Jugnot is, of course, an old hand at the writer-director game and has it down pat; an ex-member of Splendid he is more than worthy to take his place beside his old colleagues like Josie Balasko, Thierry Thermitte, Michel Blanc et al. This effort isn't likely to trouble the panel when the Cesars come around and there's only an outside chance it will play in England but that's England's loss because this is feel good in spades. Jugnot is an ex-racing driver now, in his sixties, selling cars instead of racing them. Disappointed because he never made time to see his son grow up he determines when the son is killed in a car crash, to seek out the young recipient of his late son's transplanted heart and, if possible, bond with him. Naturally if the donee were a saint there would be no film so first he needs straightening out. That's it really but, like the man said, it's about the journey and this is a peach.
