TV military drama about a small group of french soldiers in Afghanistan in 2012 shortly before the end of the french troops deployment
gegefournejeu27 September 2016
This is a french TV military drama (10 episodes x 25 minutes each) about a small group of french soldiers nicknamed "black cats" (fictional) in Afghanistan in 2012 shortly before the end of the french troops deployment (2001-2012). A female news reporter goes embedded in the group, and experience the firefights, ambushes, non-sense actions, trafficking,...

Not saying that because I'm french (French people are more likely fans of "french-bashing"), but this TV military drama is really good :

  • good actors,

  • good script, between drama and comedy,

  • good film set, even if filmed partly in Spain and mostly in Paris Region,

  • good work on sounds and soundtrack

Above all, this TV drama is very realistic, both in its tragic moments and funny moments. Certainly because the show-runner, Fred Scotlande (who plays Staff Sergeant Dostali) is a former french military. Many veterans should find themselves in this top TV drama.

Very good serie : funny, dramatic and with hope
Emmanuel01076725 April 2019
Hello, i'm french.

If some english, american,... fellows could watch this in french language of course, it will be a good idea.

What's an agreable surprise ! I like military videos without being a military. I have been immersed in the war in Afghanistan.

The actors all play very well. It's funny and serious at the same time (dramatic).

I really have been emotionnaly concerned.

It talks about the drug, the money (of the drug), the religion (Christianism and Islam), the women lacking for the guys, female conditions ... The scenario is very good with a lot of parallel stories.

The entire serie held a very simple powerful hope. It's a humanist realization.

I hope there will be the sequel (even if actors are now 3 years older...) Congrats (and sorry for my bad english )
