As the episode begins Ryan's ex-wife Hannah Wyland walks in to interrogate Alex. She does not like Alex and as US television had a mid season winter break, we get a recap of the events of season 2 so far.

Lesson of the week is the art of seduction. The recruits had to attend a wedding reception and sleep with whoever their mark was. However Alex has Owen Hall in her sights. With help from Harry she zooms in on him as he is also vulnerable with her daughter being away.

Being seduced by Dayana can be lethal. Her mark got battered and she called Leon for help and clean up after her but it is all really a ploy from her.

Alex confronts Ryan about the secret AIC phone he carries.

In the present day, Shelby walks into the interrogation of Alex and informs them that the AIC are not the terrorists, they are the victims. If you are further confused, Miranda then helps Alex to escape and then makes a revealing comment to Alex.

The episode did not advance the plot much nor shed more light at the cliffhanger and the revealing of Ryan in the previous episode.

Lydia? Seriously?? THAT was out of the blue

Warning: Spoilers
Wow. I did not see that coming.

This whole time, Lydia and Owen's "relationship" was portrayed ex or current boyfriend/girlfriend or ex or current husband/wife. It was clearly shown as a romantic relationship (most likely as exes, given the lack of kissing and/or romantic touching).

However, in THIS episode, that portrayal was turned on its head when it was suddenly (and IMHO very unexpectedly) revealed that Lydia was Owen's daughter.

WOW. I don't know if this was the writers' attempt at a "course correction" ... or if it was a deliberate misdirect, but they certainly had ME fooled.

This was all the more shocking given that it seemed, from their interactions, that Lydia was Owen's superior at the CIA.
