The constantly glitching third “Tron” sequel flickered out at Disney when the studio landed bigger, shinier franchises like Marvel and “Star Wars,” “Tron: Legacy” director Joseph Kosinski said in an interview with Vulture.
Perhaps now better known as the director of “Top Gun: Maverick,” Kosinski said a three-quel called “Tron: Ascension” was fully written and storyboarded before it was de-rezzed. The script turned the “Tron” concept inside-out by bringing computerized characters out into the real world – an idea that the 2010’s “Legacy” spent much of its runtime setting up, as the film ended with grid-only character Quora (Olivia Wilde) arriving on Earth’s material plane.
The 400 million global box office haul for “Legacy” wasn’t enough to get an immediate greenlight for a third film, Kosinksi said especially after Disney acquired other high-profile sci-fi and action franchises. “Legacy” was a success by all standards of a “cult hit,” however, from its glassy,...

On Bosch: Legacy, Harry Bosch (a superlative Titus Welliver) may no longer be an LAPD detective, but luckily for fans of Bosch, he’s still driven to find justice for the aggrieved. As viewers find out in the May 6 premiere of the Amazon Freevee (formerly IMDb TV) spinoff, in the few years since political interference on the force led him to quit, he’s morphed into a private eye taking cases that include locating stolen property and missing heirs and uncovering murderous culprits. Below, Welliver, who’s also an EP on Legacy, which he calls “a continuation” rather than a sequel to Prime Video’s original series, clues us in on what to expect this season. Let’s talk about what fans will find the same or different in Bosch: Legacy. Titus Welliver: Harry’s in a different place now that he’s turned in his badge and works as a private investigator.

Harry Bosch is back on the case — though a different kind of one — as Bosch: Legacy hits Freevee (fka IMDb TV, Amazon’s free streaming hub) this Friday.
A spinoff of Prime Video’s seven-season adaptation of Michael Connelly’s Bosch novels, Bosch: Legacy again stars Titus Welliver as the former LAPD detective, who a year-and-a-half after the events of the previous series’ finale is finding work here and there as a private detective. (Harry being Harry, he relies solely on word of mouth and won’t give out his number.)

Bob Marley’s passion for soccer is examined in Rhythm of the Game, the fourth addition to Legacy, the 12-part documentary series honoring the late reggae legend.
The 33-minute clip features vintage footage of Marley playing soccer and shots of present-day Jamaica, exhibiting the sport’s importance on the island. “When I was growing up as a kid, it was in the streets,” Wailers drummer Carlton “Santa” Davis says in the video. While introducing Kingston’s Boy’s Town Football Club, Ziggy Marley explains that soccer is “a sport out of people.

It’s been almost a week since Star Wars Day on May 4th, but Mark Hamill is continuing to celebrate the franchise for a full month just like the previous years. Yesterday was May 9th, which is why the actor decided to reflect on Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, the ninth and last movie in the saga.
J.J. Abrams’ concluding movie was Disney’s last hope of redeeming the dysfunctional and convoluted Sequel Trilogy. Yet, the story ended up dividing fans even further. For all the things that Episode IX had going for itself, including the return of Emperor Palpatine, the result was a lackluster rehash of nostalgic elements and fan-service moments that went against everything Rian Johnson set up in The Last Jedi. This ultimately backfired in the Mouse House’s face and those who even hated Episode VIII with a fiery passion couldn’t help but notice that at best,...

It’s been a difficult few months for the comics industry, as Covid-19 has virtually brought distribution to a halt, and put many stores at risk of permanent closure. With the main distributor Diamond unable to supply comics, it’s been a stressful time for fans and those running businesses, regardless of size. However, Marvel Comics have now announced that they’re planning to start releasing new issues from Wednesday, May 27th, in what should hopefully be a resumption of some kind of normalcy to the industry.
While it doesn’t seem like Marvel will jump straight back into shipping out its full schedule for distribution, there will be at least some individual titles and trades from the end of May. And here are the books that Marvel are currently aiming to put out on the 27th:
Amazing Spider-man #43 (FEB200924)
Avengers #33 (FEB200982)

1982’s Tron wasn’t exactly a huge hit at the box office, but the groundbreaking visual effects would go on to inspire an entire generation of filmmakers, while continued fan support saw it endure as a cult favorite. A sequel was finally made 28 years later, and while Tron: Legacy isn’t a terrible movie, it seemed like a strange decision to give the project the go-ahead with a massive $170 million budget when nobody really seemed to be asking for it.
While $400 million globally is a respectable tally for any kind of movie, the huge production and marketing costs saw Legacy barely turn a profit, seemingly putting to bed any chance of the third installment that the ending had obviously been set up for. Despite this, every now and again we hear rumors about a potential Tron 3, with Jared Leto being linked to a starring role since 2017.

Comcast’s NBCUniversal is looking to add some Vudu into its streaming-video mix.
The media conglomerate is in talks to buy Vudu, the Walmart-owned entertainment rental, download and free-streaming service, sources confirm to Variety. It’s unclear what the terms of the pact would be or the timing. News of NBCU’s interest in Vudu was first reported by the Wall Street Journal.
The speculation is that NBCU would merge Vudu with Fandango Now, the online-video transaction site that’s part of ticketing service Fandango (after it bought M-Go in 2016). It would boost NBCU’s digital-video presence as it preps the launch of Peacock, a streaming service that will have a hybrid free and paid model, stocked with originals, licensed content and library programming (including the full run of “The Office”).
NBCU declined to comment.

Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics have released a surprise new trailer for Marvel’s Avengers fans to pore over.
The action-adventure game, which lets players fill the shoes of Earth’s mightiest superhero team, was officially announced at last year’s E3 with a release date of May 15th, 2020. Even best-laid plans often don’t go accordingly, however, and despite the near-finished state of the title as shown by gameplay videos late last year, the one word many gamers dread to hear above all else ultimately ended up putting the hype on hold. Last month, Crystal confirmed that Marvel’s Avengers had suffered a substantial delay, with Hulk, Thor, Iron Man, Black Widow, Captain America and Ms. Marvel’s debut on consoles and PC pushed back to the fall.
Today, however, the developer has attempted to somewhat soften the blow with some new footage, as well as the first details for pre-order bonuses.

How David Weil and Nikki Toscano, showrunners for Amazon Prime's Hunters, enticed Al Pacino to television to kill Nazis.
If you discount TV movies like 2018’s Paterno, and miniseries like 2003’s Angels in America, Al Pacino hasn’t appeared on a TV show proper since guest starring in one episode of N.Y.P.D. over 50 years ago. Yes that’s just N.Y.P.D.…no Blue. So what does it take to get one of America’s finest actors back into the world of television - and this time in a streaming format, no less? One great idea of course! And that idea belongs to David Weil, who conceived of and successfully pitched to Amazon Prime the Nazi-hunting drama Hunters.
Hunters, which is produced by Jordan Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions, follows a young Jewish man named Jonah (Logan Lerman) living in 1977’s New York City.
