Paz Encina's documentary will not suit everyone's taste. It is not the investigatory, straightforward kind about the Paraguayan dictatorship under Alfredo Stroessner, but rather something of a dream, a kind of deep meditation. The images and sequences aid the viewer through one family's recollections of years past, and a particular loved one. They're never direct and explicit, but always stunning, curious, and soothing. I found myself moved to tears at one point (or two).
