John Oliver opened the Nov. 19 episode of Last Week Tonight with a few jokes at the expense of both George Santos and Fabio.
Oliver noted at the start of his HBO show the news regarding disgraced congressman Santos, who, on Friday, became the first U.S. House member to be expelled in more than 20 years. He is also only the sixth House member in history to be removed by his colleagues.
The move came after Santos became the subject of a scathing ethics committee report on his conduct after details about his life story were found to be embellished or false. Among the claims he later admitted to fabricating were that he hailed from Jewish ancestors and worked at top Wall Street firms, including Citigroup and Goldman Sachs, along with where he went to college.
Prior to the expulsion, Oliver made a joke about Santos.

“Dancing With the Stars” Season 32 kicked off right on schedule on Tuesday night, with all 15 couples, even temporary holdout actor Matt Walsh, hitting the dance floor for the first time.
“Bachelorette” star Charity Lawson and partner Artem Chigvintsev earned the highest score of the evening for their Tango, which judge Bruno Tonioli proclaimed to be “exquisite,” while Carrie Ann Inaba said it was “stunning,” especially for Week 1.
Charity took the lead from singer Jason Mraz, whose Cha-Cha-Cha with Daniella Karagacha to his own song, “I Feel Like Dancing,” prompted Bruno to dub him “the one to watch.” Jason, who claimed his higher-than-average dancing skills were due to an “extra vertebra,” earned a “7” from each judge.
After the audience votes were added, “Rhobh” star Mauricio Umansky and “Veep” star Matt Walsh were in the bottom two. Matt’s “non-traditional” Cha-Cha-Cha with partner Koko Iwasaki received a “4,” from each judge, a decision the audience booed.

BTS’ V delivered a trio of tender, swooning songs during his short but sweet performance on NPR’s new Tiny Desk offshoot, Tiny Desk Korea.
The performance was filmed last month in Seoul and found V working alongside an eight-person band of musicians, most of whom had flown from the U.S. to South Korea for the gig. Despite their recent formation — and ostensible jet lag — the musicians provided V with the most dulcet of tones as he breezed through some of the songs off his debut solo EP, Layover.

In a lovely victory for songs with absolutely zero ties to racially charged violence or drunken controversies, Jung Kook of BTS has secured his first solo No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. “Seven,” which features rapper Latto, officially debuted in the top slot on Monday, July 24th, shutting out recent offerings from Jason Aldean and Morgan Wallen.

Thanks to “Boy With Luv,” BTS have continued to make history by releasing the first Korean-language song to surpass 1 billion streams on Spotify.
The Halsey-featuring track appears on BTS’ 2019 EP Map of the Soul: Persona, and while its the first song sung in Korean to hit the Billions Club, it’s not BTS’ first entry into the Spotify success canon. In 2021, the K-pop group’s cut “Dynamite” earned the distinction, marking the first song by a Korean artist to achieve a billion streams. The following year, their track “Butter” hit the milestone as well.
“Boy With Luv” has always been a successful single. Since premiering in 2019, the song has set three Guinness World Records, including Most Viewed YouTube Video in 24 Hours, Most Viewed YouTube Music Video in 24 Hours, and Most Viewed YouTube Music Video by a K-Pop Group in 24 Hours. What’s more, Map of the Soul: Persona debuted at No.

Of the ten music videos that got the most views in their first 24 hours on YouTube, nine are from K-pop acts: There’s five BTS videos on the list, three Blackpink videos, and one video from Blackpink member Lisa. How have K-pop artists managed to have such big YouTube debuts? To answer that question, you’ll have to ask the audience — and read the sophisticated streaming playbook one fan group has put together.

Not much time has passed since we opened our MTV Video Music Awards predictions on July 26, but there’s already a clear and overwhelming front-runner to win Best K-Pop: BTS of course. They’ve dominated this category for years, and in fact rarely lose at the VMAs when nominated for fan-voted awards. So why have they never been nominated for Video of the Year?
To date BTS have won nine Moon Person statues at the VMAs. That includes three wins in a row for Best K-Pop for “Boy with Luv” featuring Halsey (2019), “On” (2020), and “Butter” (2021). The award was established in 2019, so BTS have never lost. They have also never lost Group of the Year, which was re-established in 2019 and produced three straight victories for the septet. Their remaining three victories were Best Choreography and Best Pop in 2020 for “On” and Song of Summer for “Butter” in 2021.

CBS’ broadcast of the 2022 Grammy Awards on Sunday night averaged 8.93 million viewers, up just a smidgen from last year’s all-time audience low of 8.8 million. That tally includes those that watched the linear broadcast on CBS or live-streamed the show via Paramount+ and other platforms.
Once out-of-home viewership is folded in (on Tuesday), this year’s tally is projected to hit 9.6 million, which would represent a Yoy gain of 3 percent from the 2021 comp (9.4 mil).

Even the most ardent Grammy haters would have to admit that the ceremony at least has an ethos: The alternate-universe vision of current popular music it presents is almost its own radio format, where almost everything is more classicist, melodic, and live-instrument-driven than our unfiltered real world. (The choices for awards are, as always, another, much-worse story, and continue — in many categories — to be unabashedly bonkers.) This year, the performances were almost uniformly excellent (depending on your tastes, Chris Stapleton and Carrie Underwood were arguably kinda mid) — so the real...

Oh, you sweet innocent little lamb — you’re mad about who won Album of the Year at the Grammys. Never change. Here’s the thing: Can you name the last six Album of the Year winners off the top of your head, without looking it up? No, you can’t, because you don’t really care about this award — you just pretend once a year. So it’s a waste of your rage rent to squander it on an award you won’t remember by Tuesday. The Grammys are never about who wins.

BTS rocked the audience with a secret-agent-themed performance of "Butter" at Sunday night's Grammys. Putting on a full production, V, Suga, Jimin, Jungkook, Rm, and J-Hope - minus Jin, who stayed seated for most of the performance - danced their way through a laser security system like true spies on a mission. V took on the role of spy-movie protagonist and made sure to set the mood as soon as the stage lit up. Dressed in a sleek black suit, he dropped down from the ceiling on a rope before he strolled into the audience to flirt with Olivia Rodrigo.
As members of the band lounged alongside the screaming audience, the spotlight shined on them to create the illusion of a sexy film noir scene, with V sitting down beside Rodrigo and draping his arm on the table behind her seat. Rodrigo, smiling and blushing, listened as V whispered in...

BTS - and the ARMYs - weren't most concerned about winning an award at the 2022 Grammys. It's their highly anticipated performance, which marked the first time BTS hit the Grammys stage in person for a performance of their own, that fans knew would go down in BTS and the Grammys' history books. The group fought long and hard to get to this point, and viewers could see their blood, sweat, and tears clearly in their epic performance. Just like Rm promised on the red carpet ahead of the show, it was one unlike anything fans had seen from them before.
The espionage-inspired performance of "Butter" started out with V taking on a super-spy persona and getting flirty with Olivia Rodrigo before Jungkook descended from the ceiling. BTS lit up the Grammys stage with their performance of "Butter" on Sunday night, with memorable moments like Jungkook coming down from the ceiling, V whispering sweet nothings into Olivia Rodrigo's ear, and J-Hope almost wiping out midsong (but saving himself like the smooth dance master he is). However, while Jungkook, V, J-Hope, Rm, Jimin, and Suga danced throughout the performance like usual, Jin, aka Worldwide Handsome, stayed seated for most of the performance. While ARMYs certainly know what's going on with Jin at all times, many of the non-bts stans tuning into the Grammys might be wondering why he wasn't dancing along with the rest of the group.

BTS is proving why they're a global phenomenon. The K-pop group started off their 2022 Grammys performance of "Butter" with a truly impressive opener that saw Jungkook descend from the MGM Grand Garden Arena ceiling. Then, the rest of the group—J-Hope, Rm, Suga, Jin, V and Park Ji-min—slowly appeared throughout the audience, with V cozying up to pop star Olivia Rodrigo. The duo inspired jealousy in many Grammy viewers when V slyly whispered in the Disney Channel star's ear and produced a card with the precision of a magician. BTS sent the temperature skyrocketing with their buttery smooth red carpet entrance at the Grammys on Sunday. Showcasing their individual style, V, Suga, Jin, Jungkook, Rm, Jimin, and J-Hope rolled up in coordinated Louis Vuitton looks in shades of blue, white, and brown. As seasoned Grammys veterans and the K-pop kings of hand gestures, BTS knew exactly what to do when the Glambot, the award show's slow-motion style camera, came swinging in their direction.
As soon as it came their way, half the band brought their hands to their ears, while the others crouched and posed like a set of movie spies frozen in an iconic action scene. What sometimes requires celebrities multiple takes only took BTS a moment, but we're not surprised considering they have badass dance skills and an overall swag that makes us melt like butter every time they hit the red carpet. "Before we fight, I call dibs on Rm.

For all the posturing and promises extended to women in music for years, the music industry has proven almost entirely ineffective at diversifying the mostly male ranks that create music’s biggest tracks. That’s according to the USC Annenberg Inclusion Initiative’s latest “Inclusion in the Recording Studio?” report, which for the past five years has analyzed gender makeup of artists, songwriters, and producers behind all of the tracks on the Billboard’s year end Hot 100 and on the nominations for major Grammy categories, effectively quantifying how little representation...
