- A scene which shows multiple people wearing animal masks performing strange and disturbing acts on each other in a very sexualized manner in one portion of the game. This can be completely missed if the player doesn't explore. You can see these events happening by peeking through the cracks of doors. No nudity is seen but very proactive.
- One animalistic human character follows you around and masturbates, no nudity is shown as it is more done to disturb the player. This character also tries rubbing up against the player, though stops when you push her/it away. This character is not hostile and is somewhat an ally to the players and is not sexually violent in anyway and acts more as child.
- Some of the animalistic humanoid creatures have exposed breasts.

- Some of the animalistic humans are covered in blood
- The player explores the environment and can interact with various objects which reveal more about the city that he is exploring. Hostile characters will be encountered during exploration, but the player has no combat options and must run away to evade attackers.
- Alternatively, the player can sneak past potentially hostile characters by avoiding eye contact, which is done by facing the in-game camera to the ground.
- There is some depiction of violence in the game.
- Characters may be observed to attack one another using metal rods or wooden sticks, sometimes drawing blood.
- In some of the encounters, the player is invited to participate in the violence on other characters such as hitting them with a metal rod; pushing them off the edge of a building; throwing a brick onto their heads from a great height; etc.
- Overall, the feature of realistic but not excessively graphic violence with depiction of blood may be included in gameplay.

- Many NPC's are drunk and partying. Many can be seen passed out or rolling around and dazed.

- 'Here They Lie' is a first person horror game where the player explores a bizarre 20th century city inhabited by strange humanoids with animal heads. As the player uncovers more clues, he realizes that the strangeness of the city conceals a terrible reality.

- In one part of the game countless people are hanged in front of a cheering and ecstatic audience. The player can attempt to save the hanging people though for each person the player saves, another person is hanged. Their is no way to save everyone in this sequence.
