Introducing David E. Kelley’s latest emotionally gripping drama series: A Man in Full. The man who brought you the seaside malaise of Big Little Lies, the courtroom impropriety of Anatomy of a Scandal, and the hotness that is Manuel Garcia-Rulfo as The Lincoln Lawyer has adapted A Man in Full into a limited series, starring Jeff Daniels, Tom Pelphrey, Lucy Liu, and Diane Lane.
Watch the trailer above, and read on for a Full report.
A Man in Full is based on The New York Times bestselling novel by the late Tom Wolfe. When Atlanta real estate mogul Charlie Croker (Daniels) faces sudden bankruptcy, political and business interests collide as he defends his empire from those attempting to capitalize on his fall from grace.

The group has collectively written Stay Positive, an illustrated children’s book inspired by the title track of their 2008 album. The 32-page book, which arrives Oct. 1, follows an armadillo on his path to enlightenment, as it makes friends and learns to maintain a positive mental attitude. “Mary & George” is the delicious new historical drama from British playwright D.C. Moore, who swaps out stuffy history lessons for a raucous, bawdy ride that fans of “The Favourite” will love. Like that Oscar-winning movie, this limited series on Starz focuses on an era of British royalty that is little-known to American audiences.
Julianne Moore plays the Countess of Buckingham, who groomed her son (Nicholas Galitzine) to seduce King James I (Tony Curran) in an attempt to curry favor, power, titles, and riches in 1600s England. In the titular role of Mary, Moore delivers another powerhouse performance. She owns every scene she’s in and proves once more why she is one of the best actresses working today. Critics agree, “Mary & George” is the Moore show.

Veena Sud's 2010s TV series The Killing (based on Forbrydelsen by Søren Sveistrup) is still one of the most enthralling viewing experiences I've ever had, so I'm especially thrilled that Veena's 2020 Quibi series The Stranger (starring Maika Monroe as a rideshare driver who encounters a killer client plalyed by Dane DeHaan) has been re-cut as a feature film that will arrive on Hulu on April 15th:
Press Release: - TV creator and filmmaker Veena Sud and Hulu announced today that they are teaming on the release of Sud’s latest project, The Stranger. The horror film, which stars Maika Monroe (star of It Follows and Neon’s upcoming Longlegs), Dane DeHaan (recently seen in Oppenheimer and star of HBO’s The Staircase) and Avan Jogia, was written and directed by Sud, whose previous work includes the Emmy-nominated AMC/Netflix mystery series The Killing and police violence drama Seven Seconds,...

Over the course of a film career that has grown over three decades, writer/director Regina King has built one of the most impressive sets of credits of any actor working today. From her early performances in films by John Singleton, King has worked with such other distinguished directors as Cameron Crowe, Taylor Hackford and Barry Jenkins, delivering performances that have showcased her skills in comedy, romance and even action films. All of this work culminated in an Academy Award win for her stunning performance in 2018’s “If Beale Street Could Talk.”
King’s honors are not limited to her performances on the big screen, however. For her work in television, King has won an impressive four Emmy Awards — for the Netflix series “Seven Seconds,” the HBO limited series “Watchmen” and two consecutive Emmys for her performance in ABC’s “American Crime.” In addition, she starred in several successful series — “The Boondocks,...

“I am running for President,” states Regina King as Shirley Chisholm in the official trailer for the film based on the life of the eponymous trailblazing Black politician. In 1968, Chisholm became the first Black representative in the United States Congress, elected to serve one of New York’s congressional districts. Four years later, she makes that bold proclamation about her intention to run for U.S. President, becoming the first Black candidate to run for the office. The movie, written and directed by Oscar winner John Ridley, debuts on Netflix on March 22. Watch the official “Shirley” trailer below.
As the film chronicles, Chisholm’s aspirations for the presidency were not met with universal encouragement. Even though she took on the arduous task of mounting a presidential campaign because she has “an opportunity to make a difference,” she faces scrutiny for her positions, being told she sounds “just like every other politician.

Once upon a time, a bunch of disgustingly wealthy entertainment executives got together with a dream — a dream that answers the question, "What if people consumed film and TV in short segments like a TikTok playlist, but on a brand new platform that no one is going to pay to use with a bananas ridiculous name?" The result was Quibi, a short-form streaming platform that went as quickly as it came, shutting down after only seven months of operation and hemorrhaging over a billion dollars from investors.
The downfall of Quibi rivals that of fellow colossal "good idea on paper but never gonna happen in execution" entertainment failure, MoviePass, but came with the depressing caveat that Quibi actually produced a huge chunk of *content* that was now at risk of being drop-kicked into the unstreamable void of tax write-off and nothingness unless other platforms stepped in to save them. Fortunately,...

Updating a 2005 action movie, one most remembered for a tabloid frenzy inspired by the on-set romance between its stars, was not on Francesca Sloane’s to-do list. And yet, Donald Glover called her a few years ago with that very proposition.
Sloane had been writing and producing on the final two seasons of Atlanta, a gig that cemented her membership in TV’s art house, and she anticipated her next project would be similarly less mainstream — an erotic comedy featuring animatronic dog puppets, for that matter. But Glover’s pitch was convincing. “I laughed, and then he explained why it’d be cool,” she says. “I was intrigued, then excited and then it became an undeniable ‘yes.’”
Where their Mr. & Mrs. Smith landed is a more subtle spin on the married spy conceit — one that puts priority on relationship dynamics and finds absurd and often surreal parallels in espionage and assassinations.

NBCUniversal’s expansion of the Suits universe is taking another step forward.
Following the runaway success of the former USA Network legal drama on streaming platforms last year, NBC has ordered a pilot for a companion series. The project, from Suits creator Aaron Korsh, is called Suits: L.A. and will be set in the same world as the original show — but will follow a new group of characters.
Universal Studio Group’s UCP, which produced the original, is also behind the Los Angeles-set spinoff. The studio and Korsh started developing the project in October, following Suits’ massive summertime run at the top of the streaming charts after it was added to Netflix (the series also streams on NBCU’s Peacock platform). At the time, it wasn’t clear where the project would land, although somewhere within NBCU was most likely. With USA largely out of the scripted business, NBC became the pilot’s home.

As Deadline reported exclusively in October, the project, from Suits creator Aaron Korsh, is not a revival or reboot of the popular USA Network series and, unlike the 2019 Pearson, the new legal procedural is not a spinoff either — it would be a Suits universe series in the vein of the CSI and NCIS franchises featuring new characters in a new location, Los Angeles.
Like Suits, which was set in New York and filmed in Toronto, Suits: L.A. also will film in Canada, with Vancouver standing in for Los Angeles. Production is slated to begin in March, I hear.
Korsh executive produces alongside David Bartis, Doug Liman and Gene Klein, who were EPs with him on the original series.

Amazon MGM Studios has released the first trailer for its remake of the 1989 action classic “Road House,” which will be available to stream globally on Prime Video on March 21.
The feature stars Jake Gyllenhaal as a former UFC fighter struggling to make ends meet. In a world replete with quick-spreading disinformation and the subsequent, dangerous proliferation of kooky conspiracy theories, the 2021 animated series "Inside Job" — created by Shion Takeuchi (a writer on "Gravity Falls" and "Disenchantment") — was perfectly timed. "Inside Job" posited that every single conspiracy theory you've ever heard — whether it be Reptilians, JFK, the Mandela effect, the flat Earth, or the faked moon landing — were all 100 percent real. Clones were out there, severed heads were being kept alive in labs, and aliens regularly visited Earth. Just like in "The X-Files," ordinary citizens weren't allowed access to this knowledge.
Earth's conspiracies were overseen by a mysterious underground organization called Cognito, Inc., one of six major shadow governments secretly in charge of the world. The other five were the Catholic Church, the Illuminati, Atlantis, the Reptoids, and the Juggalos (tee hee). The central joke of "Inside Job" was that Cognito, Inc. was staffed by flawed,...

“The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” series currently in the works at Amazon MGM Studios has found its showrunner.
Variety has learned exclusively that Veena Sud will head up the series, which will be set in the world of the so-called Millennium novels originally written by Stieg Larsson.
Variety previously reported that the series was in development in May 2020, though no showrunner was attached at that time. It was originally reported to be a new standalone story about one of the novels’ main characters, Lisbeth Salander, but current plot details remain under wraps. Amazon MGM Studios will produce along with Left Bank Pictures, which is based at Sony Pictures Television.

In the 54 years since Diahann Carroll (“Julia”) blazed a trail as the first Black female recipient of a TV Golden Globe, the list of small screen Black actresses who have won the favor of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association has grown to include 12 more names, including 2023 comedic and dramatic champs Quinta Brunson (“Abbott Elementary”) and Zendaya (“Euphoria”). While this roster has long since covered TV movies and both continuing program genres, no Black woman has yet been awarded a Golden Globe for a limited series performance. There is a decent chance of that soon changing, however, given the winning potential of possible 2024 Best TV Movie/Limited Series Actress contenders Uzo Aduba (“Painkiller”) and Dominique Fishback (“Swarm”).
Possible Golden Globes newcomer Fishback stars on Amazon Prime Video’s “Swarm” as Dre Greene, a mentally unstable young woman whose unhealthy obsession with a Beyoncé-esque pop star drives a wedge between her and her foster sister,...

Within the past four years alone, the success rate for Best TV Movie/Limited Series Actress Emmy nominees who have entered their ceremonies with same-year SAG Award wins under their belts has dropped from 100% to 60%. After being followed by Anya Taylor-Joy (“The Queen’s Gambit”) in 2021, win-lose trendsetter Patricia Arquette might soon be joined by 2023 SAG Award recipient Jessica Chastain (“George & Tammy”), whose Gold Derby Emmy odds are significantly lower than those of her strongest challenger, Ali Wong (“Beef”).
Chastain and Wong represent half of their Emmy lineup’s first-time acting nominee majority, which also includes Dominique Fishback (“Swarm”) and Riley Keough (“Daisy Jones & the Six”). Rounding out the group, which features no former Emmy champions, are category newcomers Lizzy Caplan (“Fleishman is in Trouble”) and Kathryn Hahn (“Tiny Beautiful Things”).
In order to determine the likelihood of Chastain perpetuating said unfortunate trend, let’s take a closer look at each nominee.

Claire Danes seems en route to her 10th Emmy nomination — and eighth for acting — for her turn on the FX limited series “Fleishman Is in Trouble.” Danes sits in second place in the Best Limited/TV Movie Supporting Actress odds, and a win would not only give her a fourth Emmy, but it would make her one of nine women to win both limited/TV movie acting categories.
A two-time Best Drama Actress champ for “Homeland,” Danes took home her first Emmy in Best Limited/TV Movie Actress for the HBO film “Temple Grandin” in 2010. She’s never been nominated in supporting for a limited series or TV movie, so “Fleishman” will represent the first chance she has to complete the set.

On May 3, Kale Futterman spent her 30th birthday walking a picket line in Los Angeles alongside thousands of TV and film writers as part of the current strike organized by the Writers Guild of America. After becoming a writer’s assistant in 2017, Futterman landed her first paid writing job in 2021 on Netflix’s Ginny & Georgia. She’d worked in just three writers rooms over the course of her career.
Despite murmurings of a potential strike, Futterman admits, “I was living in a little blissful bubble of delusion,” explaining she was holding out hope until the very end that the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers would meet the WGA’s demands. The project she was working on just hours before the WGA officially announced the strike was her first time being a story editor.

Jessica Chastain took home the limited/TV movie actress prize at Sunday’s Screen Actors Guild Awards for “George & Tammy,” defying the odds, where she was in fourth place. Not only did Chastain stop Amanda Seyfried‘s awards run for “The Dropout,” but it ended a six-year streak of one person sweeping the winter awards in this category.
The previous six years have seen Sarah Paulson, Nicole Kidman, Patricia Arquette, Michelle Williams, Anya Taylor-Joy and Kate Winslet in collecting the Golden Globe, Critics Choice Award and SAG Award in the early months of a new year. This annual one-woman supremacy was a hard pivot from 2016, when three people took home these three awards. The Golden Globes infamously went with Lady Gaga for “American Horror Story: Hotel,” while Kirsten Dunst prevailed at Critics Choice for the second season of “Fargo” and the SAG Awards crowned Queen Latifah for the HBO film “Bessie.

A week after picking up a Best Limited/TV Movie Actress nomination at the Critics Choice Awards for “The Dropout,” Amanda Seyfried added a Golden Globe nomination on Monday. Screen Actors Guild Awards nominations are still a month away, but the actress is the runaway favorite there as well. HBO and HBO Max are becoming very unpredictable.
Ever since the Warner Bros. Discovery merger, there have been plenty of controversial decisions from the higher-ups at the company.
If you thought Minx was the only cancellation this week, then we have bad news.
HBO Max has split up with Love Life, canceling the romantic anthology after two seasons.
The writing had been on the wall with the lack of updates following the Season 2 finale back in November 2021.
The first season was headlined by Anna Kendrick, while the second had William Jackson Harper at the forefront.
The series has also been pulled from HBO Max, meaning there's a chance fans will never get to rewatch the series again.
Sam Boyd, the creator and co-showrunner, reflected on the cancellation on Twitter.
