Gordon Buchanan, wildlife cameraman, is accidentally one of the most earnestly pleasant nature presenters on the BBC aside from Big Davey Attenborough himself - he has a very calming presence and so most of his programmes are loosely themed around him "getting amongst" animals in a fairly non-intrusive way. Here it is the turn of elephants and although the structure is fairly vague, the two episodes have this serene loveliness about them that is rather hard to describe. He's not alone though and Benjamin Kaylo (elephant expert and keeper) is a constant presence and just as much of a magnetic presence as "THE GORDON" himself. It's not just the majestic beasts and nice hosts and it does have a fairly solid dollop of local context too and so really adds up to a very pleasant and informative elephant excursion.
