What keeps sunny fresh!
frappuccinobeano1 November 2019
If anyone can wonder what keeps, "Always Sunny", fantastic, it is episodes like this.

From start to finish this episode is thematically sound. The dialogue and acting replicate the old mystery/sci-fi feel, while also producing humour. Even the camera shots are clear inspirations of 60s tv.

It is occasional episodes like this that moves sunny away from formulaic seasons.

Im short this episode made me jump like japanese cockroach

Experimental
kylemarshall-2389231 October 2019
Usually this show tries to experiment once a season with an episode. Sometimes they are hit or miss, but this one was pretty funny. It's a period piece with quite a lot of regulars showing up.

Decent episode. Not the greatest this season but still amusing enough.

So much fun! the atlantic accent, the lingo, and CRICKET! the crime is so outrageous and this episode keeps the laughs rolling. the film noir tropes mixed with sunny style humor had me laughing while gaffawing our loud "it's so stupid!" love this episode

perfect balance of I.A.S.I.P. and film-noir
chino_existenz31 October 2019
If youre a fan of Charlie and a fan of film-noir,it doesn't get any better. The cinematography is superb, the humor is subtle yet provoking and funny and its a completely original setup of Paddies and Philly. Also,Cricket is back. I.A.S.I.P. is still amazing,well-written,funny and experimental in its 14th fkin season and this episode is no question a season highlight.

I'm not the goddamn goon.

Warning: Spoilers
Well, the nay-sayers are going to nay-say; as always.

I love this episode. Film Noir plus Sunny? Yes, of course. Made me few all tingly, so I don't hear the nay-say, just Sunny me, please.

As with some of the ideas in this season, I can't believe that they haven't done this before. I really enjoyed the cigarette reference and the classic Sunny Dee is unattractive (perceived as such, almost exclusively, by the gang).

I don't know if anybody will see like I did, but to me it seems as if this is a fantasy episode; to us, the viewers, it looks black and white and well done and beautiful, but it's probably like The High School Reunion Part 2: The Gang's Revenge where we are seeing an idealised version of the Gang's dancing moves until a cut reveals how poorly executed their choreography is. The way Charlie and Dee and The Waitress (are they going to name her?) break character within this Crime-Mistery-Noir fantasy about cherries and diarrhoea, to me, suggests this.

Another great addition to the already great catalogue of craziness that is It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

Wow - Just Wow

One of the best things I've seen on TV.

This level of observation to recreate this early movie style is breath taking.

Camera work is gorgeous, music is perfect, dialog is astonishing and acting is amazing.

Interesting
dougmacdonaldburr1 November 2019
It is the best episode of the season and I like that they tried something new, but, it is still not classic Sunny. There were a few really good jokes, but, others were just really obvious toilet humour. It also felt short. I think to capture this noir vibe they needed to move at quite a slow pace, but, when you have less than 30 mins to work with the story feels a bit short. There is still potential for some great stuff, but, they have to end it soon. The show has made it to 14 seasons. There is no shame in that. This is one of the best sit coms of all time, I just don't want it to go on too long if that means losing quality.

Genius!

It takes a lot to keep the same cues and references but to transfer them onto the style of a completely different genre. This episode did it perfectly. The only other show to pull this off so well was Moonlighting when they did the Shakespeare episode. Loved it.

The Janitor Always Mops Twice

Warning: Spoilers
I have mixed feelings about noir episodes of sitcoms.

There were a lot of things to like about this one, but diarrhea poisoning and everything Frank does the last few years being about eating were distractions and bad ideas.

Funny, but just not as good as it maybe could have been.

It was a very boring episode. i did not laugh at all. from start to end they tried something different. all black and white. film-noir type. not good.... this is not a sunny episode. it's a failed experiment.

Hilarious, but also exciting as never before

This is a new high for IASIP. Even though the show is only 22 minutes they still managed to tell an intriguing story, adapted from film, all the while you laugh just as much as you usually do when watching this brilliant show.

The most irregular season
Victor_daSilva_3 November 2022
I don't know what's going on with It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia. After two sensational seasons, this fourteenth is really being very difficult to follow. This episode, for example, used a formula that I love in this series, which is the mix/parody of genres, but... I don't know, it didn't work :( and it seems like every episode of this first half of the season has tried to do that, to use time-honored formulas, but few if any of them have worked for me. It seems that the creators' ideas, always very creative, have run out... I'm really sad to say this, but if the rest of this season doesn't do enough, I'm leaving the show.

Umm what?? Art film?
tylertucker-8967821 July 2020
It was a weird indie noir ripoff, not a comedy episode.. running out of ideas?? Why let Rob and the others ruin this show with their bad ideas?? Just end it or return to season 1-6 humor..
