The Queen of Kattegat
claudio_carvalho10 December 2018
King Alfred asks Bjorn, Lagertha and Ubbe to prove their loyalty and grants freedom for them. Ivar decides to take Freydis as his wife and she promises a son to him. Bishop Heahmund requests his lands back to King Alfred but he learns that have been given to Lord Cuthred that threatens him when he discovers that Heahmund and Lagertha have a love affair.

"Murder Most Foul" is another engaging episode of "Vikings". Margrethe´s ambition to become the queen of Kategatt has come to an end. Ivar is lured by Freydis that seems to be more dangerous than Margrethe. Bishop Heahmund resolves his situation with Lord Cuthred but there is still the man that saw Lagertha and him having sex that may bring problem to him. Floki´s segment is boring again. Unfortunately there are many one or two line fake reviews made by robots or spoiled kids. My vote is eight.

Finally the crazy annoyance is dead
chrisboringlife30 December 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I was annoyed every time I saw Margrethe, and I almost hated the series for not killing her earlier, but she kept coming back with her idiocy.

So for the sake of keeping the viewers it was a long overdue move to remove her.

Anyhow her plot was slightly overdone and dragged out way too long.

Omg enough of the lame Floki side-story!
Top_Dawg_Critic30 April 2020
Did the writers run out of ideas and needed to fill some space? I could've done without all this boring fluff and have only 10 solid episodes this season! Lame!

Four days before release it has 85 "10" votes
VoyagerMN19861 December 2018
And no, there has been no "early release" intentional or inadvertent anywhere in the world yet. Vikings is a good series. Marred in my opinion by terrible acting, but still worthwhile. But the shilling of the upvoting the past few years makes its ratings highly suspect.

Ivar
wyogirl-5801015 January 2021
I was a faithful follower of Vikings until Ivar walked. After studying the history, he had NO bones in his legs. He was NOT able to walk or stand!!! He had to be carried everywhere he went. This show is only for entertainment and not true to the historical facts.

The lowest point of a former awesome series so far
vegeta-julian6 December 2018
Warning: Spoilers
What happened to this awesome series? It keeps on getting worse, with this episode being the lowest point so far. It was weird enough already that Lagertha all of a sudden got white hair in between the seasons, but now Bjorn also turned into a fairly one dimensional character whose main purpose seems to be to be angry with everyone and getting new women to join his bed. In this episode a new female character was introduced to get married to the king, just to end up in Bjorns bed at the end of the day after hardly exchanging any words. Heahmunds actor is overdoing it with the acting, always speaking in kind of a batman voice and seemingly appearing badass, but it gets laughable. The Floki storyline doesn't present anything interesting anymore and serves only as a background for some nice icelandic panoramic shots. It really is a shame what happened to the series.

After Ottoman Empire's fall, this is 2nd worst fall of all time
semsihamdi7 December 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I literally cannot believe this show has become this bad. We know Ivar as a clever commander but now he believes he can have a child by making his wife lick his hand? Bjorn sleeps with alfred's wife. What was that? Show has turned from good acting and teaching history to complicated relationships and betrayal. I do not want to see this if I did I would probably watch Indian TV series. I did not even finish the episode fully.

It's fallen

I'll give it one more episode, but this was bad. I'm not sure if it was as bad as the previous episode, but it was bad. The poor acting is much more noticeable with poor writing.

It hurts me
nuclear-237-90882512 December 2019
Warning: Spoilers
When did Last Kingdom become the leading Vikings series? When did this fall so far? The king is allowing them to serve in the army. Good. Then they suddenly can move around freely in the castle and can occasionally run into the kings room to shout at him? No guards anywhere? The new princess is just occasionally roaming the market and falling in love with Bjorn. Sure. Haemond can also just run around where ever he want wrecking havoc. No guards anywhere.

This is satire. The actors are overplaying it so hard that you can already see that it has become just a joke. Haemonds batman style is so silly, the plot is silly and it's just a shame.

The main illness is the small world syndrome. It might have a special name but this is what I call it. In a series you always have a small cast with protagonists. But those should live in a big world. These Vikings aren't anymore in such a world. England consists of roughly 20 people, when they go to forests they literally see eachother. They are living in the castle together and talking all the time. It's just rare scenes where you see more people but when at the end Haemond can just go to wherever he wants and kill whatever he wants then what's the point. Just kill Alfred and the other 10 inhabitants of England and be king lol. The feeling of it is that it's just your casual soap series in TV which lives from drama dialogues.

The Vikings Soap Opera. Filler Episode. Poor Acting and Characters (mostly Ivar and Alfred), and Story. I hate to do this, but it must be done.
Bababooe7 December 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Tonight's episode was all about Soap. You got Lag and the Priest, terrible acting and character Ivar and his "queen", terrible acting Alfred and his "prospective queen" and Bjoke.

The Priest visiting the new Bishop, where the Bishop should have been killed right there and then. No, we have to wait for spy sex, letter and another visit for the killing.

We got Alfred and his terrible acting. Who thinks this guy can act? Seriously!? A very poor portrayal of Alfred the Great. He says he's lines then walks out. His mother arranges a marriage and this "woman" sleeps with Bjoke. He's negotiating with Ubbe, is basically a suckup. He's afraid that he's not strong enough to take on the nobles. So, it's all a setup for when he kills all the nobles. The big problem? I know Ecbert and Senator you are no Ecbert. Ubbe is a decent actor, but he's no Ragnar. So, what we're left with is a stale setup.

The Priest is a decent actor, but he's a one trick pony. Lag is sidelined. She's not a great actress. But given good material, it works. Bjoke is also not a great actor. But again given decent material it works. Floki is a great character and actor. But he's out tripping with a bunch of losers. Ivar the Terrible. This guy is a joke. Terrible acting. He was great as a supporting actor for Ragnar. Ragnar was great. Great character and acting. Rollo shows his face then disappears in disappointment.

They killed off mad Margreth in such a loser way. It takes a team of assassins throwing knives at her, as she pleads for life. Loser scene.

While watching this you hope for quality and we may be biased to like it because of the shows past. But while writing and thinking of how this whole episode went down the disappointment is clear. We have no lead character. We have no lead storyline. We have poor actors spitting poor dialogue. Watching scenes with Floki and the waterfall was nice, but I'd rather watch the nature channel for that.

I own the first 4 seasons on DVD and have watched multiple times and will revisit in the future. I have no reason to buy or watch season 5 again. I'll finish watching the rest of the season, and may continue, but I don't have much hope. There was always Soap in these shows to build some kind of intrigue or politics, but this episode was the dumps.

Core historic errors that there is no reason to have in show
random-7077824 May 2023
I get moving characters around, condensing several into one. Etc. But the number of very bad historic errors, which are not needed to tell a dramatic story, in this series is stunning.

Female warriors was always a joke for anyone who knows the period history. There is exactly ZERO evidence there were any. In the sagas there are NONE. Yes out of thousands of graves found, there are two or three that MAY be female skeletons with some military grave goods. But those could simply be ways of lots of sons honoring their mothers.

In this episode we get the ridiculous idea that the character of the bishop having a mistress would be a huge scandal. All the evidence is that this was very common. Bishops could not get married, but they were priveledged NOBLES, second or third sons of noble families, and they lived quite like any other nobles. Very few were esoteric theologians. In the main they would have been eating very well, had lands, and had mistresses. Just not married.
