Not the best episode
I really don't like the character of Cam's sister, Pam. She is always loud and obnoxious, and this episode is no exception.

this sent feminism back a few years
conoryes11 April 2022
They would say something positive and then instantly say something negative. Especially Gloria, Hayley and Luke. And to make it worse the whole parking sub plot was boring.

All Things Being Equal

A real mixed bag of an episode once again.

The Phil/Jay storyline is the best one, with some very funny moments.

I didn't mind the Cam/Mitch story, despite it including the always annoying Pam.

The Luke/Manny story tries to push a message, but it was on the whole kept in check and well played.

As for the one involving the girls - not so good.

But it's S8 of a show that does 22+ episodes a year, and tells 3 stories an episode, it will always be a mixed affair.

Has some good jokes, but most of it will make you cringe
MeesTW5 May 2017
I've been following the show for a while now and I'm happy that it still hasn't jumped the shark. The writing has been alright this season, nothing too spectacular, but nothing bad either.

This episode, however, wasn't written as a Modern Family episode for the most part.

The obviousness of pushing a pro-Clinton agenda is painful to see. Even spreading feminist myths, which have been debunked from time to time is something I didn't expect the writers would do. Sadly, they did. Modern Family has been a show with some liberal episodes (which fits in with the Los Angeles setting), but this episode felt like propaganda.

The Jay & Phil storyline in this was good though. It was humorous and very well paced. So I guess the writers did a good job on that.

Overall, not one of the best episodes, but if you like the show a lot you should watch it.

Pokes fun of feminists, not feminism
steveo5548 July 2022
Sure, this is "The Women's March Episode", but it also lampoons modern feminists and how they think, act, etc. The segment also pokes fun at how/why guys might consider themselves feminist (really for sex) and why some women who embrace feminism don't really understand what it entails (actual self-sufficiency).

Sure, it recycles old and debunked feminist talking points (it's an earnings gap, not a wage gap), but it takes something relevant to the time and puts the characters in it.

I've seen some real examples of woke television; Brooklyn Nine-Nine, which I enjoy, really hammers it into our faces. This episode is nowhere near that level of cringe.

Once you see it as unintentionally based as opposed to intentionally trying to be feminist, it's a funny episode.

Good episode!
hoppis4 May 2017
I really liked this episode! It didn't have any really funny moments, but overall I thought it was great and just what I needed at the moment. It was fantastic to see the ladies all together and I'm hoping for more moments like that in the show. Jay & Phil working together is always fun, and I really appreciate that story line. Manny and Luke also had a fun story in this episode, with Luke becoming a more complex character as well. I was critically set on how they would handle the Pam-story line but shockingly, I really liked her in this episode. Excited to see more!

Modern Family needs another season. It may not be as funny as it once were, but the new episodes are still the highlight of my week. If there is going to be a season 9, I hope they bring back Andy.

Don't listen to the bad reviews or bad ratings, Modern Family is still the best comedy-show out there! You will enjoy this episode.

Worst Episode of the Series
coltsfan182885 May 2017
I'm all for TV shows trying to spread messages, and am fine when they have agendas. However this episode, about women's rights and gender equality, was almost insulting. It panders to the lowest-common denominator, using disproven or just plain unfactual narratives about the Feminist movement. But the biggest crime of all is the episode isn't funny. Jokes are lazily handled or can be seen coming a mile away, which likely is due to the writers being more concerned spreading their agenda than being funny.

Shows like Black-ish are able to walk the political and social line with brilliant ease, offering commentary on topics without being biased or sacrificing humor. Modern Family used to be able to do that, but now I'm not so sure.

Joan Saves The Episode
ryangray-874229 June 2021
This episode is amazing, but it also isn't the worst episode of Modern Family, Niecy Nash who played Joan is the best part of this episode! I wish her character would have been featured more, she was definitely a great side character!! Other than Joan and Phil and Jay's storyline the show wasn't amazing, definitely not one of the best, but I would rewatch it again just for the parking lot plot!!

Statistically Incorrect and Boring
alexdonaldson-1876321 March 2022
The whole feminist plot was pushed way to hard in this episode. In past episodes they would add many feminist qualities, but in this one they really tried force feeding it down the viewers throats.

They also mentioned the false statistic about women earning 79 cents to a dollar a man earns, which has been proven false time and time again, even when the episode first aired.

Unfunny and politically correct
isabel-010136 May 2017
It is so sad when a funny and intelligent show turns unfunny and PC. Show a little respect for your viewers - most of us watch Modern Family for entertainment, not to be subjected to political propaganda. And that is regardless what the political agenda might be, or your own personal ideological leanings. When you turn on a comedy show you want to be entertained - this time I barely made it through the episode.

Great episode
businesspantano1 April 2021
It was funny, and I enjoyed it a lot. The whole dynamic with Luke and Manny had a lot of screen time and I thought it was very positive.

What a piece of turd!
yaawza5 May 2017
This Pile of Pooh Series has steadily been going downhill This was the absolute worst however, with its Social warrior BS and Pathetic attempt at being political. Used to be funny, used to be Relevant. Now is neither!! .

A rating of Zero out of 10 would be more accurate review of this turd

Garbage Episode
ericemir30 June 2022
Go woke go broke. Why do they feel the need to introduce this political garbage. Hopefully this pattern doesn't continue with the rest of the episodes as it's a huge turn off.

One of the worst episodes I've seen of any show
flatsamiscool22 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This show has a lot of crappy episodes, but this is by far the worst one so far. I probably won't watch any more of it because it's already been stupid and this was just the last bit of stupidity I needed to stop watching it.

The statistics are false and I'm pretty sure they know that, the way they try to push for Hillary when she would've been awful, they act like if women can't kill their children, it's somehow oppression even though men can't kill them either.

It's a bunch of cringe-worthy bs with a weak story (like a good chunk of the show), it has Pam who's basically the Todd Packer of this show; annoying, shouldn't have ever been in it, obnoxious.

The parts with Phil and Jay weren't all that funny either. Just meh. But the rest was terrible.

Also, there was a girl getting offended by stuff for basically no reason and it seemed like they would've shown that she was being ridiculous, but nope. They feel the same way and she isn't just a whiny little brat who thinks things are worse than they are?

Gotta love the current generation that tries to act like they have it anywhere near as hard they did in the 50s.

Really awful episode all around.
