In the Season 5 episode “Sos + Hazmat + Ultrasound + Frequency + Malihini,” set to air Friday, Feb. 12, Taylor and Bozer (Justin Hires) will work with erstwhile conspiracy theorist Jerry Ortega to infiltrate a Codex cell, CBS’ official logline tells us.

We don't talk a lot about Canadian entertainment company Pacific Northwest Pictures but they have been quietly picking up some really good flicks recently. In their current roster is Darius Marder's Sound of Metal with Riz Ahmed and Olivia Cooke, and Black Bear starring Aubrey Plaza, Christopher Abbott and Sarah Gadon. Seems Pnp know a thing or two about getting good titles, eh? Now you can add Canadian drama/horror Violation from filmmakers Madeleine Sims-Fewer and Dusty Mancinelli. Pnp have picked up the Canadian rights for Violation and are planning a March release. Violation had its world premiere at TIFF back in September and played at a handful of other festivals here in Canada. It plays at Sundance later this month. Our own Josh caught...

Linda Yaccarino, NBCUniversal’s chairman of global advertising and partnerships, has been named chair of the Ad Council’s board of directors.
She succeeds David Fischer, Chief Revenue Officer of Facebook, and will serve in the role until June 30, 2022. The role of chair rotates among representatives of four industry sectors: media companies, technology companies, ad agencies and advertisers.
Since its beginnings in the 1940s, the non-profit Ad Council has developed public service communications and marketing efforts for a range of social causes. Its signature campaigns have included Smokey the Bear’s anti-forest fire messages and slogans like “Friends don’t let friends drive drunk” and “Love has no labels.” It has responded to events like the September 11th attacks and natural disasters like Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Sandy and has recently tackled Covid-19.

There is indeed an actual, living, occasionally roaring black bear that appears in Lawrence Michael Levine’s razor-sharp “Black Bear,” but that’s one of the few hard-and-fast elements of That the film — the first of Levine’s to premiere at Sundance — is programmed in the festival’s forward-thinking Next section should suggest to audiences that the film is more than the psychosexual drama hinted at in its official description. Well, it is, but it’s also so much more.
The basics: set in the kind of glamorous mountain mansion that never seems like anyone’s actual home, we’re first introduced to flinty filmmaker Allison (Aubrey Plaza), who is visiting the makeshift artist retreat on the recommendation of a pal. It’s run by — and owned by and lived in — flirty Gabe (Christopher Abbott) and his pregnant partner Blair (Sarah Gadon), who are amusingly ill suited for any kind of professional endeavor.

Singapore-based TV production firm, Beach House Pictures is expanding its international and China-facing production capacity. It has hired four executives to join its senior management.
Suzy Hounslow, who joins in a newly-created position as executive in charge of production, will be supervising and providing quality control across Beach House’s international output. She joins after a 10-year stint at Australia’s Seven Network Studios where she oversaw 500 hours of factual, reality and scripted shows annually, with shows including “My Kitchen Rules.” Hounslow will report to founders Jocelyn Little, MD, and Donovan Chan, creative director.
Rob Sixsmith, who joins as head of factual, has previously worked across multiple factual genres, ranging from survival to science, and won a BAFTA Award in the process. His credits include directing Bear Grylls and Levison Wood and Discovery Us’s factual entertainment phenomenon, “Gold Rush,” and the Beach House-Discovery International flagship series “Ed Stafford: First Man Out.
