Return to form for Avalon

Most of James Avalon's work in recent years has been routine, verging on joining the "all-sex" craze that dominates porn these days. This volume in the Sweet Sinner BDSM series finds him in a more creative mode, with enough self-reflexive concerns to make it significant among the hundreds of features on his resume.

Casting Tommy Pistol in the lead role as an irascible screenwriter with delusions of grandeur is a controversial element here for me: he's too dead-on "right" for the role, which ends up robbing it of potential nuance had a more talented actor (Mike Horner back when or current talent like Logan Pierce) been chosen.

Pistol is known for his scores of BDSM dom performances, so when he gives female lead Marley Brinx a hard time (right out of James Spader in the mainstream classic "Secretary") the expected overacting is counter-productive.

Apart from this, the story is interesting, and novelties, especially involving a key subplot involving a fellow dom "The Mastermind" well-played by Marcus London, give the movie its special power. Brinx is lovely and makes her complex character come to life, with Kylie Ireland in a NonSex role as her loving mom adding much to the show.
