Gabriel: It is really killing you, you're not out there impressing your kid, huh? Lucifer, do you really see a version here where he sticks by you?
Lucifer: I think the kid is pretty blown away by the old man, so... Yeah. I do.
Gabriel: He's a kid. He likes shiny objects and magic tricks. But he's not like you. I can see it in his eyes. His mother's bloodline, the Winchester's influence...
Lucifer: I can be an influence.
Gabriel: Ugh. He's not gonna want that. He'll see who... what you are.
Lucifer: I've changed.
Gabriel: Dude, it's me. I've known you since the stars were made. You can't change. You're incapable of empathy or love. You live to be worshiped or feared. Or both.
Lucifer: Okay. I-I see that you've - you've drunk the Kool-Aid. Fine.
Gabriel: Oh, is the part where you tell me that, uh, Dad made up all those so-called lies about you? Got it.
Lucifer: Yeah! Yeah, Pop locked me up, okay?
Gabriel: Don't you get it? Humans are innocent and beautiful. But you... you couldn't stand that the old man loved them more than he loved you. So you tempted them and you corrupted them just to prove how flawed they were.
Lucifer: You better be careful, man.
Gabriel: Dad saw that your evil was like the first few cells of cancer... that it would spread like the disease unless He cut it out. That is why he locked you up, to stop the cancer. But it was too late then. And guess what? It's too late for you now.
In any event for those strange fans that like season 13 this episode should meet their expectations. It moves the story line a little forward and follows the same tone and pace as previous apocalypse world episodes.
For the even stranger fans (like me) who loved SPN from day one, it is a let down. Most of the episode consists of all the characters standing around giving each other strange and awkward looks. A poor if non existent script. This episode lacks ambiance and emotion, no action worth mentioning, no drama (let's be honest a death in SPN no longer raises an eyebrow let alone draws a tear), none of the darkness or depth or even beauty of some of the older episodes and seasons, just a droll and tedious episode. I really had to struggle to get through this one, it's like a bad soap opera. Lucifer and Mary are just a joke and really have to go !
And the biggest let down, the Winchester brothers with no spark, no wit, no life, no fight. A far cry from the beautiful hunters they used to be, with their warmth, their sense of sacrifice, their fire, their chemistry, their wonderful effort to save lives and humanity. They sit around looking soppy and dopey and wine and dine with the evil they used to kill, they have totally sold out. Dean and Sam, if I didn't know you I would want to hunt you !!
Here's to hoping the show will dare to dare !!
