This is Abbas Kiarostami's final work. It consists of 24 four-and-a-half-minute shorts shot by Kiarostami over a period of three years. The style has been described as fixed tableau with the use of blue screen.
It is Abbas Kiarostami's final feature film (and his only posthumous release) before his death in July 2016.
Sections from the film were screened at Marrakech International Film Festival 2015, and Venice International Film Festival 2016, prior to the premiere of the full-length film at Cannes Film Festival 2017.
The proposed title of the film was originally "24 Frames Before and After Lumiere".
It was posthumously shown in the 70th Anniversary Events section at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival.
