Vietnam Veteran Charlie pushes thoughts of ending it all away when his flashbacks start to eerily morph with images of Iraqi war veteran Julia. Julia, recently returned from war, begins having flashbacks of burning children during a weapons raid.
During Julia's photo study of a burnt down mansion, she makes a discovery. This leaves her someone else's photo interest. Charlie's sister Debbie and nephew Ryan are concerned. They visit Charlie at his trailer only to make matters worse.
Charlie visits a therapist to get help for his flashbacks, but the session makes him only want to have a smoke. During a flashback, Julia smells smoke and runs out side and hitches a ride from the newspaper delivery man.
The newspaper delivery man's predatory intentions become clearer as Julia slips deeper into her reverie of an alternate world in which she is having tea with neighbor Betty at the burnt down mansion.
Julia's soldier skills kick in and she escapes the clutches of the newspaper delivery man. Meanwhile Charlie falls asleep smoking. Retraumatized, Julia wanders the forest and dreams of having tea with the children from the weapon's raid.
