Decent finale, perhaps didn't live up to the trailer.

I don't think since the concluding part of Line of Duty's third series have I wanted to see a concluding episode to a drama more. For the most part it satisfied, was a very good standard, but I can't help feeling a little disappointed. The opening episode was decent, but the mid point blew me away, I watched Parts 3 and 4 with my stomach in knots, drama is supposed to evoke emotion, those parts did so with enormous effect. I had hoped that gusto would have carried on into the conclusion, but it didn't really.

On the debit side I found the first half hour a little flat, very little seemed to happen, thirty minutes in though it took a very dramatic turn and regained its form. The acting was impressive as always, the production values first rate, and proof that the old ones are the best. Scamarcio, Vinall, Hardy, Dance all excellent, Jessie Buckley was a revelation as Marian. Surely worthy of a BAFTA for her sublime performance throughout.

I'm so glad this glorious story has been told to a new generation of fans, and hopefully lead to a few new Wilkie Collins fans, not too long ago we had a fairly staid remake of The Moonstone, this was ultimately more satisfying.

Mid point I was starting to think my overall rating of 8/10 was a bit low, but after all parts I think that's spot on.
