- GoofsThe show's narrator incorrectly refers to paper dolls as "one-dimensional." Having both length and width, they are actually two-dimensional. Technically, it's three as paper dolls have depth, even if it's minimal.

The calculating history behind the classic Malibu blond
Barbie never had a presence in my house, growing up, but her story turned out to be a fascinating history lesson. For one, I had no idea that the fashion icon for little girls originated as a comic strip in an adult magazine. Or that her marketers were either convicted of fraud or lived their lives as a wealthy sexual deviant. I mean, really, who saw any of that coming?
An off-and-on lightning rod for controversy, Barbie has never actually been boring. And as a chapter in "The Toys That Made Us", this makes for an all-around entertaining episode; saucy, eye-opening and intriguing throughout.
