We are back at Avonlea as two conmen work the locals, trying to cheat them out of investment money. At the center is a false claim of gold. Anne is her usual insufferable self. She goes on and on about things to the nth degree. The two men who work together are both charming and sinister. But at times they overplay their hands. It will be interesting to see where the season takes us.

Wonderful opening

The opening sequence to this episode is magnificent and a textbook example of cinematic perfection. Ms. Walley-Beckett and her team deserve honors for not just this but the entire series. I've viewed the show without any background on Anne of Green Gables, so I can't compare it to the source material, but standing alone, it's been a complete joy throughout - extremely intelligent, funny, and moving. Every episode has brought me to both laughter and tears. Of course the acting is superb, but also most all of the scenes are works of art in themselves. This series should have received much more recognition than it has.
