After his father's suicide, Daniel is on the brink of suicide himself, contemplating jumping off a high cliff in San Francisco, when an old childhood friend, Amanda, stumbles into him and talks him away from the ledge. Amanda convinces Daniel to accompany her back to her place where she catches Daniel up on her own woes over a bottle or two of wine and music. The next morning comes, and Amanda and Daniel take a walk where they reaffirm their friendship.
