Roger Ebert - Host : [reviewing "Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones"] Now, you like THIS Yoda better than the other Yoda?
Richard Roeper - Host : Yeah, and you know what? Go back...
Roger Ebert - Host : Come on.
Richard Roeper - Host : ...And look at the other Yoda.
Roger Ebert - Host : First of all...
Richard Roeper - Host : That other Yoda, you can practically see the guy crouching underneath...
Roger Ebert - Host : The other Yoda never looked like a sock puppet, and not only didn't he NOT look like a sock puppet, but Lucas has said that he tried to make this Yoda look like the Muppet Yoda...
Richard Roeper - Host : ONLY more expressive! And there's this "Crouching Yoda, Hidden Dragon" thing...
Roger Ebert - Host : You like the fact that Yoda turns into an action figure now, with his lightsaber...
Richard Roeper - Host : I think that that...
Roger Ebert - Host : ...After, in the next movie, y'know...
Richard Roeper - Host : ...Is a scene that "Star Wars" fans are gonna absolutely love. I loved it.
Roger Ebert - Host : It's totally out of character for him.
Richard Roeper - Host : There's a nice- it's NOT totally out of character for him. That's part of his skills, he's not just this brilliant philosopher...
Roger Ebert - Host : Listen, if you're Yoda...
Richard Roeper - Host : ...He's ALSO a Jedi warrior...
Roger Ebert - Host : ...If you're Yoda and you have The Force...
Richard Roeper - Host : ...He's a Jedi master!
Roger Ebert - Host : ...If you encompass The Force, you don't need no "laser saber", you...
Richard Roeper - Host : You do when you're goin' up against another Jedi dude who's also got super duper mind powers!
Roger Ebert - Host : You just go like this:
[makes a hand swipe]
Roger Ebert - Host : You're Yoda! Nobody can stop you!
Richard Roeper - Host : Well...
[laughs along with Roger]
Richard Roeper - Host : He was being stopped mentally, so he had to go to the physical stuff!
-
Roger Ebert - Host : [reviewing "The New Guy"] DJ Qualls, who was also in a bad movie "Road Trip" has a goofy comic timing that's kind of infectious. Maybe there's hope for him. Even Steve McQueen started out in "The Blob", you know.
[Richard chuckles]
Roger Ebert - Host : Here, Qualls has to suffer through dialogue like the scene where the high school counselor says, "Denial", and then she adds: "Denial is not just a river in Egypt." So, thumbs down, needless to say, despite the possible promise of DJ Qualls.
Richard Roeper - Host : You are being FAR too kind, but DJ Qualls will always be able to say that Roger Ebert somehow compared him to Steve McQueen, so he'll always have THAT. Because it's never gonna happen again in this guy's life.
