The Many Faces of Dracula (2000)

*** (out of 4)

This documentary takes a look at several of the actors who played Dracula over the years. Christopher Lee hosts this documentary but his clips and most of the film's clips are taken from the 100 YEARS OF HORROR documentary. This documentary runs 49-minutes and the main focus is on Bela Lugosi and Lee but there are mentions of various other actors who played Dracula.

The 100 YEARS OF HORROR series is certainly recommended as it's obviously much longer and covers a wide range of movies. This film starts off talking a lot about Lugosi, how he got the role in Dracula and how it launched and ruined his career. We hear about how FRANKENSTEIN changed it even more and pushed him off the list as the most popular horror actor. We go through the various Universal films and then we jump to Lee and Hammer. In between those we get brief clips and a few comments about everything from NOSFERATU to BLACULA to COUNT YORGA and even OLD Dracula.

This is a cheap production that has most of the footage taken from trailers but at the same time while there's nothing ground-breaking it's at least entertaining if you're interested in the subject itself. It's certainly worth watching as a time killer and seeing all the clips make you want to re-watch the movies all over again.
