In voice over, grown-up Sheldon (Jim Parsons) berates the author of "The Mighty Quinn" for the double negatives in the lyrics. Though the Manfred Mann version is more famous, the song was written by Bob Dylan, winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature.
Sheldon (Iain Armitage) did his signature knock at his Meemaw's (Annie Potts) house, but he only did it twice. Meemaw answered the door before he did his third one.
"An Eskimo" in the title refers to the song 'The Mighty Quinn' which Bob Dylan originally titled 'Quinn the Eskimo'.
Sheldon (Iain Armitage) will finish high school in the Fall of '91 (in two years). He'll be aged 11.
Sheldon's experience with the Douglases gives him a taste of what it feels like for people to deal with his own eccentricities.
