The media company announced that MotorTrend+ will be shut down after content from the service is fully migrated to Discovery+ and Max at the end of March. The majority of current MotorTrend+ subscribers will be automatically switched over to Discovery+’s ad-free plan by the end of March, retaining their same subscription price. The company said eligible MotorTrend+ subscribers will receive email instructions on how to access Discovery+. One of the most difficult problems that streamers have to deal with when cutting the cord is figuring out how to watch their local news. Well, thanks to a new partnership between The Roku Channel and ABC, viewers from some of the biggest markets in the country now have another option. On Tuesday, Roku announced that it was adding ABC-owned stations from markets including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston, San Francisco, and more, as well as a channel that covers local news from around the United States.

Lovers of automotive rehab shows, live motorsports, and car enthusiast programming are in for an exciting ride. Plex now offers the free, ad-supported streaming television (Fast) programming from MotorTrend. This move is part of the planned international expansion of MotorTrend’s Fast channel, marking the first launch into overseas markets. In addition to being on Plex in the United States and Canada, the MoterTrend channel will be available in India, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, and United Kingdom.

We’ve already covered what’s coming to Netflix, Disney Plus and Hulu in January, so let’s take a look at everything that’s on the way on Amazon Prime Video next month, too. As you’d expect, New Year’s Day is the biggest drop of the month when it comes to fresh releases, but a few notable movies and TV shows are scattered throughout the remaining days as well.

Exclusive: Independent TV studio Sonar Entertainment has secured a new production finance facility of $121 million led by MidCap Financial. The capital infusion doubles Sonar’s funds for the development, financing, production and distribution of premium content, with the programming budget now north of $250 million. The additional money is designed to support the rapid slate expansion at Sonar, which went from 3 series in 2016 — all scripted — to 17 two years later. The company’s scripted shows include Mr. Mercedes at Audience, The Son at AMC, Taboo at FX/BBC One, Das Boot at Sky Deutschland and Hulu, The Hunt at Amazon, Weird City and YouTube Premium and Rob Riggle’s Ski Master Academy at Sony Crackle. Sonar also has drama pilot Constance starring Elisabeth Shue at TNT.
