Lapo, the dog portraying the protagonist in the film, is not a trained actor at all. In fact, the producers decided to try and work with a dog coming from a shelter in southern Italy to bring the similarities between the real life and the on-screen Angelo even closer.
The film was financed through a crowdfunding campaign and the sponsorship of a well-known pet food company.
All the revenue coming from the film will be devolved towards animals' rights associations in Italy. The first project set to be funded is a shelter named to Angelo in the town where he used to live and his death occurred.
