Michelle Randolph and Jacob Lofland have joined Billy Bob Thornton in the upcoming Taylor Sheridan series “Land Man” at Paramount+, Variety has learned. In addition, Variety has learned exclusively that Ali Larter will star in the series as well.
Per the official logline, the series “is set in the proverbial boomtowns of West Texas and is a modern day tale of fortune seeking in the world of oil rigs. The series is an upstairs/downstairs story of roughnecks and wildcat billionaires fueling a boom so big, it’s reshaping our climate, our economy and our geopolitics.” It is based on the podcast “Boomtown.”
Randolph will star as Ainsley Norris, described as “the wild and strong-willed seventeen-year-old daughter of Tommy Norris (Thornton).” Lofland will play Cooper Norris, “Tommy’s son, who is new to the demanding work in the oil and gas fields of west Texas.” Larter will play Angela, Tommy’s ex-wife.

Vertical Entertainment has obtained worldwide distribution rights to indie horror, The Resort, from writer-director Taylor Chien and executive produced by rapper Quavious “Quavo” Marshall of the Migos. Starring Bianca Haase (Hot Tub Time Machine 2), Brock O’Hurn (Tyler Perry’s Boo! A Madea Halloween), Michael Vlamis, and Michelle Randolph (5 Years Apart), the plot centers on four friends who head to Hawaii to investigate reports of a haunting at an abandoned resort. We've got a movie that should be on your radar this weekend because who doesn't love a feel-good comedy about the complexities of sibling relationships?
5 Years Apart is, at times, a laugh-out-loud funny look at two brothers born on the same day, you guessed it, five years apart. But due to miscommunication and a host of other issues, the two are estranged until they both show up at their parent's house to celebrate their birthdays, unaware the other will be there.
What follows next is an up and down ride that takes us through an incredibly meaningful weekend for the brothers.
There are some spoilers below, though significant plot points have been averted.
Winner of Best Ensemble Cast at the L.A. Indie Film Fest, the cast, which features some seasoned T.V. vets, is by far the highlight of the film.
