A basis that doesn't make any sense, characters that are impossible to like, cheap flash animation, poor writing and jokes; there is nothing to like. Save your time and go watch The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack instead

Dang the theme song for this is catchy! (Makes me want to jam out to nautical songs from the Smithsonian Folkways collection for days...)
This cartoon is a laugh-out-loud funny (the third episode comes specifically to mind) animated program from the creative minds behind 5 Second Films and the legendary cult horror/comedy classic on Netflix 'Dude Bro Party Massacre'.
The concept is sort of like they heard the premise of the Decemberist's 'Mariners Revenge Song' and realized the possibilities for hilarity there, were it instead an irreverent episodic situational comedy with an ensemble cast of outlandish and memorable characters.
The humor strikes a perfect cord between being wholesome PG and getting surprisingly bawdy and envelope-pushing at times. Aesthetically it is very much in the style of Gravity Falls or Over the Garden Wall, while comedically the brand of humor and plot is more in the vein of Bojack Horseman or Aggretsuko, riffing slyly upon and exploring all kinds of mature subjects, for example gentrification or the documentary Black Fish.
Not that it's overly high-falutin'; like Simpsons the program sort of functions simultaneously on multiple levels, and has plenty of goofiness and physical comedy to satisfy less discerning segments of the viewership on top of all the higher brow incisive sociopolitical commentary.
All in all a helluva show, I only wish there were more episodes as they go by way too quickly... Would be so psyched if Netflix or Cartoon Network picked this up, could watch these characters for seasons and seasons!
