Exclusive: Production is currently underway on the 12-episode fifth season of 9-1-1: Lone Star amid rampant speculation that this is the show’s final chapter and without one of the series regulars, Sierra McClain, who quietly left following some cast renegotiation drama, Deadline has learned.
“So excited to be a part of @911lonestar’s final season!! What a ride it’s been!,” Robyn Lively, who has recurred on the show as Marlene Harrism the mother of Judd’s (Jim Parrack) son, wrote on social media earlier this week before deleting the post.
That is a sentiment we have been hearing from other Lone Star cast members too, with some series regulars actively looking for new jobs.
As Fox Entertainment CEO Rob Wade told Deadline last month, the network had been hoping to make a renewal decision after they see how Season 5 of 9-1-1: Lone Star does this fall. That likely won’t be possible.

TV audiences tracked down “Tracker” in a big way this season. The freshman CBS drama, which stars Justin Hartley as a survivalist who helps law enforcement and others solve tough cases, was the 2023-24 TV season’s most-watched entertainment series. According to the Eye network, that’s the first time a first-year TV series was ranked as the No. 1 show since “Survivor” premiered as an instant phenomenon in 2000.
“Tracker” was helped, of course, by premiering in February behind Super Bowl Lviii — giving it a huge jump start. And this was an unusual, truncated TV season due to the Hollywood strikes, which meant limited episodic orders for most programs. Last year’s top-rated show, Paramount Network’s “Yellowstone,” hasn’t aired an original episode in more than a year — and yet still made the charts, but via repeats that aired this season on CBS.

Fox 2024-25 Fall Lineup: Rescue Hi-Surf Gets Post Super Bowl Slot; Accused & 9-1-1: Lone Star Return
Fox was busy over the weekend.
They renewed their remaining drama, The Cleaning Lady, for a 12-episode third season under new showrunners, to start.
The Cleaning Lady, which suffered a great loss when leading man Adan Canto died, was forced to pivot midseason, and it will be pivoting again for its third season.
While we don’t have details, perhaps divesting the original creative team from being so closely related to their story will give the show an opportunity to thrive.
Today, Fox will unveil its content slate for the 2024-2025 television season to the national advertising community during its in-person Upfront Presentation at the Manhattan Center.
That means we get the information on that schedule now and can add the videos after the execs reveal them later this evening.

Fox is moving “Family Guy” to midseason, marking the first time the animated staple hasn’t been on the network’s fall schedule since 2005 (when it returned to the air after being canceled for a few years). That’s one of the major shifts to come this fall as Fox announced a 2024-2025 lineup that includes two new dramas and a new animated series in the fall, with more freshman launches to come in midseason.

After airing only two drama series for all of the 2023-24 season, Fox is planning to double that number in the fall.
The network unveiled its 2024-25 schedule Monday morning — after skipping the usual rite of spring the past two years — ahead of its upfront presentation to advertisers in the afternoon. The slate includes two nights of drama programming on Monday and Tuesday, a return to Fox’s scheduling pattern from seasons before last year’s dual labor strikes shut down production on scripted series and led the network to an all-reality schedule on weeknights.

For the first time in three years, Fox is unveiling a fall schedule at its upfront, reverting to the decades-old tradition of presenting a fall lineup to advertisers in May.
And for the first time since Family Guy was brought back from cancellation by Fox 19 years ago, Seth MacFarlane’s animated hit, which just celebrated its 25th anniversary, won’t be on the network’s fall schedule. It is one of 8 new and returning scripted series held for midseason — including Animal Control, The Cleaning Lady and Alert — which is as many as there are on Fox’s fall schedule. The network likely is plotting a major midseason rollout using its Super Bowl broadcast as a promotional platform.
Also, for the first time in five years, there is no WWE SmackDown on Fridays as the network is replacing the departing wrestling franchise with sports coverage of college football and basketball as well as Ufl.

It is one of 8 new and returning scripted series held for midseason — including Animal Control, The Cleaning Lady and Alert — which is as many as there are on Fox’s fall schedule. The network likely is plotting a major midseason rollout using its Super Bowl broadcast as a promotional platform.

Fox has renewed its hit quiz series The Floor, this season’s #1 game show, hosted and produced by Emmy Award nominee Rob Lowe (9-1-1: Lone Star), for two additional seasons that will air during the upcoming 2024-2025 season, it was announced today by Michael Thorn, President of the Fox Television Network.
Based on the fast-growing global format, The Floor premiered in the U.S. in January. Its debut marked Fox’s most-watched Tuesday unscripted debut in more than 13 years, Fox’s largest total multiplatform audience for an unscripted debut in two years, and the network’s most-streamed gameshow debut ever.
The Floor marks the sixth consecutive season Fox has claimed television’s #1 new unscripted series, following the success of Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test, Next Level Chef, I Can See Your Voice, Lego Masters, and The Masked Singer.

Fox will hit The Floor again — twice — in the 2024-25 season.
The network has renewed its Rob Lowe-hosted game show for two more cycles, both of which are slated to air next season. Addtionally, Fox and Lowe — who’s also a producer of The Floor — have signed a first-look deal to develop unscripted projects.
The renewal comes just ahead of Fox’s upfront presentation to advertisers Monday, but it’s not a big surprise: The Floor was quietly one of the best-performing shows on the network this season. It averaged 3.47 million viewers over seven days of linear viewing, according to Nielsen ratings, and grew to 5.5 million viewers with streaming and other digital platforms included.

The quiz series “The Floor” has been renewed for Seasons 2 and 3 at Fox, with host Rob Lowe entering into an unscripted first-look deal with the network.
“Fans loved the first season of ‘The Floor’ so much that we’ve ordered two more seasons of this breakthrough game show with plans already underway to make our epic battle of the brains even bigger and bolder,” said Michael Thorn, president of the Fox Television Network. “It’s also been a massive win to have a huge star like Rob Lowe as our host, and both our viewers and competitors can’t wait to see him back in action.”
Under Lowe’s new deal, he will develop new unscripted series for Fox that would be produced by the network’s unscripted studio, Fox Alternative Entertainment. Lowe is also the star of Fox’s hit series “9-1-1: Lone Star,” which will air its fifth season in the fall.

Exclusive: Fox is tripling down on The Floor.
The network has handed the Rob Lowe-hosted game show a second and third season after its first season performed well for the network and was spoofed on Saturday Night Live.
The news comes ahead of Fox’s Upfront, which is being held in New York tomorrow.
The show, which Deadline revealed had landed at Fox last June, premiered on January 2. It ran for ten episodes through to the end of February.
The network said that the premiere episode amassed 4.4M multi-platform viewers after seven days of viewing, per Nielsen data, which is a 73% boost from the 2.5M that tuned in same-day, making it the network’s most-streamed game show ever and the network’s most-watched Tuesday unscripted debut in more than 13 years, since Masterchef premiered in 2010. Midseason is the new fall.
As Hollywood and the broader industry continue to recover from the debilitating dual actors and writers strikes, the 2024 television landscape is coming into focus. All of the broadcast networks have set return dates for most of their shows, with the postponed Emmy Awards now set for January 15 and no usual Premiere Week to speak of.
But as series return to production with lower episode counts this truncated season, here again is Deadline’s annual list of premiere dates for new and returning TV series.
The roster covers hundreds of broadcast, cable and streaming programs debuting through 2024, with many listed as Tba as the year kicks off. It includes series and season debuts, shows returning from hiatus and some one-offs such as live sports and awards specials but not movies. The list includes shows that are in limbo for now but are likely to get premiere dates in the coming months.

Fox is the latest network to confirm post-strike return dates, and there are some big shockers.
No, we're not talking about 9-1-1: Lone Star Season 5 being banished to fall 2024.
We're talking about one of the network's most reliable performers, Family Guy.
The animated hit that has been canceled more than once and returned to much fanfare is on the move.
The Cleaning Lady Season 3: Everything We Know
As revealed Tuesday, the series will move to Wednesdays beginning March 6, 2024, where it will air out of Animal Control.
Both comedies are being paired up with The Masked Singer.
Having Family Guy away from Sunday nights will be different, but perhaps it's a test to see if some of the other Sunday mainstays could be moved to new nights.
It's hard to imagine the move triggering the series' demise.

As Hollywood returns to production following this year’s historic WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, Fox has announced winter and spring premiere dates for its returning scripted series including “Alert: Missing Persons Unit,” “The Cleaning Lady,” and its latest comedy “Animal Control.”
Also, as part of its midseason rollout, Fox is breaking up its “Animation Domination” stalwarts, moving “Family Guy” to Wednesday — marking the first time it hasn’t aired on Sundays in two decades.
Élodie Yung starrer “The Cleaning Lady” (now in Season 3) and the sophomore season of police procedural “Alert: Missing Persons Unit” officially return on Tuesday, March 5.
Joel McHale sitcom “Animal Control” returns on March 6, landing between new season premieres for “The Masked Singer” and the relocated “Family Guy.”
Fox’s revised Sunday animation lineup kicks off Jan. 7, immediately following the Fox NFL doubleheader with a special preview of the new series “Grimsburg,” starring and executive-produced by Jon Hamm.

For the first time in more than two decades, Family Guy is set to air on a night other than Sunday.
As part of Fox’s midseason schedule, the long-running animated series will move to Wednesday nights beginning March 6. The change will pair it with the network’s sole live-action comedy, Animal Control, while also making space on Sundays for The Great North new animated series Grimsburg, which will occupy Family Guy’s 9:30 p.m. spot beginning in January.
Family Guy last aired on a weeknight in the 2001-02 season, when it led off Fox’s Thursday lineup — before it was canceled the first time and then revived in 2005.
Fox’s midseason schedule will remain heavy on unscripted programming, with a pair of new game shows, The Floor and We Are Family, joining returning series Name That Tune, I Can See Your Voice, Next Level Chef — which will premiere...

Fox is looking to March for the return of its scripted slate.
The network has unveiled its midseason schedule including the return of The Cleaning Lady, Alert: Missing Persons Unit and Animal Control. The trio of scripted shows are premiering at the beginning of March following the writers and actors strike.
Elsewhere, Family Guy is moving to a midweek slot on Wednesdays after Animal Control, building out another comedy hour. It is thought to be the first time since the third season that Peter Griffin and family have aired midweek on Fox.
It comes after it pushed 9-1-1: Lone Star to the 2023/24 fall schedule alongside new series Doc and Rescue Hi-Surf, which had previously been eyed for a 2022/23 launch. No sign of the second season of Accused, however.

Fox procedural “9-1-1: Lone Star” has been pushed back until Fall 2024, a spokesperson for the network told TheWrap.
As the broadcast networks continue to feel the impact of the Hollywood double strike this summer, the fifth installment of the Rob Lowe-led drama is set to consist of 12 episodes. Despite the rescue show’s success throughout its airing, producing a full season was not possible coming out of the work stoppage, which shut down virtually every ongoing production, according to an individual with knowledge of Season 5 logistics.
As “9-1-1: Lone Star” rolls out its fifth season during the 2024-25 season, it will air alongside new dramas “Doc,” which is co-produced by Sony Pictures Television, and John Wells’ “Rescue: Hi-Surf,” which is co-produced by Warner Bros. Television. Both “Doc” and “Rescue: Hi-Surf” were previously pushed to premiere in the 2024 fall season due to residual impacts of the labor dispute.

“9-1-1: Lone Star” Season 5 will not return to Fox until Fall 2024, Variety has confirmed.
According to an individual with knowledge of the situation, the fifth season of the spinoff series will consist of 12 episodes. Fox will use “Lone Star,” it’s highest-rated drama, to launch its new shows “Doc” and “Rescue: Hi-Surf,” both of which were ordered earlier this year but have yet to begin production.
It is the latest production impacted by the writers’ and actors’ strikes that shutdown Hollywood for much of the year. With shows scrambling to get back up and running now that both strikes are settled, a number of series are being pushed to later dates. Most recently, CBS announced premiere dates for several of their scripted shows for midseason, while others are also being pushed to next fall. Those shows will also have abbreviated runs, like “Lone Star.”
But fans of Rob Lowe, who leads the “Lone Star” cast,...

Amidst a steady flurry of last-minutes changes by the broadcast networks, TVLine’s presents the latest version of our annual Fall TV Grid. And it’s looking mist unusual, rife with reruns, acquired fare and a whole lotta reality-tv.
Back in May when only the Writers Guild strike was officially in play, ABC and The CW came out of the gate with “strike-proof” schedules, whereas NBC and CBS were more optimistic, penciling in fresh seasons of their well-watched procedurals and such.
