This is a real wowser of an episode.....

Warning: Spoilers
.....and it starts off with Sergeant Trudy Platt (Amy Morton) being interviewed by Eva Dawson (Ariana Cordero) on a televised morning chat fest. Aw, take a look at Trudy's face. She looked like she would rather eat shards of broken glass and wash it down with sulphuric acid than undergo the interview, but she had to take one for the team. Then there's a tick-tick-tick in thr background, followed by a devastating explosion that injures both Trudy and Eva. They are shortly rescued by the smoke eaters of Engine 51, headed by Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) and Matthew Casey (Jesse Spencer), accompanied by Christopher Herrmann (David Eigenberg) and Randall "Mouch" McHolland (Christian Stolte), Trudy's everloving husband. Mouch set some kind of a world record racing towards Trudy after she had been rescued and brought outside the TV station which has been changed into an oversized ashtray. Mouch and Trudy couldn't hug each other fast enough, their love and marriage is so precious. He almost lost her to the explosion, and he'd like a piece of the very bad guy. It turns out that the bomber is targeting the mainstream media in Chicagoland, including Eric Mitchell (Brian Peters) who's killed by an exploding mailbox. And an alert Trudy Platt orders the evacuation of the 21st District headquarters, including the Intelligence Unit when the very same villain leaves a cardboard box and a threatening message, and it turns out the box contained a crudely-made IED. Sergeant Hank Voight (Jason Beghe) is not a very happy camper, of course. The most logical suspect may be former reporter Larry Shepard (Jason Bradley) who got fired for a story that went sideways, and he may have been the one sending out the messages decrying "fake news" in the media. Might this episode been an attack on conservatives claiming that the mainstream media have been trafficking in fake news? Worthy of discussion. A reluctant confidential informant leads the Intelligence Team to a fence named George Lehr (Todd Harmon) who just might lead him to the actual killer. Well, this episode ends on a cliffhanger; it concludes with the CHICAGO FIRE episode HIDING NOT SEEKING (season 6, episode 13). Bah.
