Wendy....White?
strider-5445313 September 2018
Warning: Spoilers
The darkness of this series has taken a turn for the better. Linney is ruthless, smart, decisive & the mastermind. She has transformed from housewife to organized crime boss. Anybody who has watched "Breaking Bad" knows how we watched Walter deteriorate into a man who didnt just orchestrate chaos, but welcomed it. Wendy Byrde has now entered the same path and it is a joy to watch. The family is just beginning.

Now THAT is a finale!
EpimetheusA118 September 2018
That last scene gave me chills.

Wendy has to be the most terrifyingly sympathetic character on the show. Marty's desperation is repulsively understandable. And between Charlotte's isolation and the way Jonah latches onto his new lifestyle, the four of them make quite a group.

Each character is so dynamic this episode. The tension mounts every moment as we learn what choices the Byrde family makes and the repercussions of their earlier decisions.

My only complaint was Wyatt's storyline. Although it's conclusion this season was satisfying, it felt a little less meaty than some of the other storylines.

Amazing season finale to an amazing show.

Great season finale, the superb writing and acting made this stand out once again
Holt34419 February 2019
Everything about this season finale was just excellent, from the writing to the acting we got a satisfying ending to the season. Plot twists so clever and unexpected made it the show I fell in love with the first season. The focus on the characters and mostly Wendy, giving her the final touches of the character development we have seen her in the whole season, it truly lead to something unexpected but awesome thing. I can't wait what they bring to the table for the next season, more focus on the mafia? Seems like it!

The ensemble cast is once again incredible and deserves the golden globes and emmys it got nominated for, the acting by Jason Bateman, Julia Garner and Laura Linney is some of the finest performances of 2018 in television. Overall season has been incredible, building on the good things of the first season. Bringing more beautiful long shots, making them longer and such. Cinematography is again superb, incredible work from the whole production.

A great season's finale
francogrex-2118023 September 2018
There is no doubt now that Ozark is at the top of the list, up alongside breaking bad, game of thrones etc... It has started so-so, mainly as a wanna be breaking bad, but somehow it has made its way and proved to be independent and very much standalone in its story line, acting etc. Wendy was not an agreeable character and at the beginning seemed to be marginal to the story (much like that annoying wife of Walter White in BB, dragging him down), but she has transformed herself in such a way that she is absolutely the star now. Marty is still there surely, and the couple together are and hopefully will remain strong because they are very smart.

The best show Netflix has made

Warning: Spoilers
Ozark season 2 draws to a close with the surprising and slower-paced finale "The Gold Coast." The action wasn't as intense as last season's closer, but there might just be even more troubling questions to consider this go-around. Strap in. The action begins with Marty prepping to leave the country. He shows Ruth where his money is hidden, all whoppin' $43 million of it. He reminds her that she can handle it. Afterward, an unsuspecting Helen congratulates the Byrdes on the significance of pulling off a self-sustaining crime center. She wants to talk five-year plans, but Marty pushes for her to simply get the operational account up and running instead. Meanwhile, Cade comes to Ruth in need of an alibi. He confesses that he killed Petty, but she doesn't want to help. You tell him, Ruth! Marty is exploring options for Zeke. The adoption folks don't think they can get him placed for ~8 weeks, but he'll need to rehome him sooner if he hopes to go on the run. Darlene thinks she has the solution. She picks up Jonah while he's out biking and shaves off large chunks of his hair. It's a clear message that she wants Zeke. She paints a picture of opportunity in the Ozarks, of Helen's boss being eternally grateful for their work. Is the Byrdes' success going to be a (perhaps brief) part of season 3? Their successes could prove just as interesting as their conflicts. Of course, there are many questions to consider as we leave season 2 behind and head for new territory. "The Gold Coast" closes with some particularly haunting images. Darlene sings to baby Zeke. Cosgrove torches Marty's office. Ruth says goodbye to her father's body. And to end things? The Byrdes take the grimmest family photo of all time. There's a lot going on in these troubled waters. Wendy has made another big decision without discussion: at the unveiling, she tells Marty that she and the kids won't run. She tells him that he's been acting out of emotion and that staying put is the more logical choice. We're only just breaking the surface.

Simply mindblowing
jakob-berge28 September 2018
This has turned out to be one of my top 5 series of all time. The tension and the unconscious drama that plays out with the different families is astonishing and keeps me addicted through every episode. Although I feel that the main characters Marty and Wendy can be a bit simple and defying, the Snell couple plays well, and especially the Langmores has an development and a final show at the end that could easily make them have their own series who would be just as popular. Ruth (Julia Garner) deserves a Grammy for her performance by the way. Cant wait for season 3!

Amazing and Suspenseful! Almost comparable to Breaking Bad.
jayroach15 June 2019
The Ozarks is the second best show on Netflix and should be available to people who still watch cable/satellite television. They are totally missing out on a developing classic. Breaking Bad was created with AMC and is the best thing going for Netflix. This show, Ozark, is definitely the best Netflix Original TV show. I can't wait for season 3. It has been grueling waiting a whole year for Ozark season 3. I just want it to hurry up already. I won't spoil anything for the people reading this review, but Jason Bateman is at his best. He is playing a serious role but still finds a way to add his witty, funny, sarcastic personality that we all know him for. He definitely deserves Emmy's on both seasons. He was robbed of them. He was nominated but some other joke TV shows got the nod. Laura Linney, and Julia Garner also deserve Emmy Awards and higher awards as well. To those of you who don't think Breaking Bad can't be matched in greatness. Just give this show a try. It will make it to season 5 no doubt just like Breaking Bad did. The difference is, Breaking Bad concluded its story telling us all that needed to be told. There was no need to keep going on more seasons. It was a show that wasn't cancelled. It just finished it's story in 5 seasons. It was perfect and is definitely the best show of all time. Now, Ozark, it can go many seasons or it can do exactly like B.B. did, conclude in 6-7 seasons if it wanted to. This show after 2 seasons, it is on the way to being the second best show of all time. Please give the show a chance and spread the word to your friends. If you look at all the episodes on IMDB, you will see that all the ratings for each individual episodes are rated 8 or better. Now how many shows can you say has that kind of rating on IMDB. Not many. You will not be dissapointed. I give this show 110 out of 100. I have watched the first 2 seasons 5 times now and I am sure I will watch it again just before season 3 comes out in August.

A fitting finale that ends on a high note
Abdulxoxo14 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The major talking point of the finale is the two storylines, the first involving Cade, doing what he has to do in order to flee. I have to say, the segment involving him and Roy caught me off guard. I kinda have a mixed feelings about whole sequence and how it unfolds but also I enjoyed how it ends. The second plotline and probably the most interesting is that Marty planning on leaving the Ozarks and leaving everything behind for a new start. But Wendy has other opinions and totally surprises Marty and the audience when she insisted that they aren't leaving stating the Ozarks is their 'Gold coast'. Overall, this season is an improvement on the last season. The storytelling is top-notch, with many turns and surprises along the way. The characters are further developing and so is the story. This season episode has been mainly about the legal processes involved in constructing a Casino and all the frustrations that comes with it. It was enjoyable and I'm pleased as to how it was concluded. Hope the next season will tackle a more different story.

Get the hate correct
michaelrock7 January 2022
I don't understand all the hate directed at the characters Wendy and Charlotte. Yes, they are annoying, but Charlene is a completely ridiculous character. Dumb as a rock red neck that is bitter and completely irrational, yet somehow she is a criminal mastermind that outwits everyone.

Marty is pretty dumb also when he asks how are we supposed to deal with Darlene,"what are we going to do, have her killed?" The idea that he doesn't understand the answer is yes is just ridiculous. He is supposed to be brilliant and dispassionate. Sometimes the writers seem to be lost in a dope haze.

My rating is based on the remainder of the storyline hanging together.

Also, BTW, those claiming that Justified and Breaking Bad were more realistic obviously are paid.

So Wendy you don't ask the cartel for help when the Snells put a hand on your son who has assisted you in doing some felonious mess using his brains and computer skills nor to try and get back baby Ezekiel BUT when Cade drags your daughter, the foul-mouth, back-talking, disrespectful, didn't help with the baby, wants to be emancipated, annoying, whining, stealing, weed smoking, curfew breaking, daughter by the hair you want the cartel's assistance. BYE!

S2.E10 - A Good Episode to End the Season [9/10]
panagiotis19934 June 2024
Warning: Spoilers
(S2. E10) My Live Reaction / Review for Ozark Season 2 Episode 10 ''The Gold Coast''. The previous episode was good and I gave it a rating of 8/10. Let's see if this one is better or worse. Ruth's dad just killed Roy? That sucks, Roy was a great character. Darlene wants the baby? She is nuts. Darlene got the baby? Is Marty insane? Leaving that baby with this psychopath? Wow, Ruth told the truth to Wyatt? It was about time I guess. The Kansas city mob knows that Marty made a deal that they are not part of, that's bad news. Wyatt left? That's not good. Wendy gave Ruth's father lots of money to leave town, I hope he wont come back. They just killed him, that's even better. Wendy doesn't wanna leave with Marty and the kids, the situation just got more complicated. A decent episode to end the season. Overall good performances by the actors and intriguing plot. This episode was good and I enjoyed it. My rating is 9/10.

The Gold Coast
bobcobb30131 October 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Ozark wraps up its second season with a pretty enjoyable episode. We saw yet another character die and it is going to be difficult for Season 3 to maintain the same quality losing so many pieces of the supporting cast.

Wendy's sudden change of heart and desire to stay just does not seem probable. She would not climb on board with the cartel just because she liked the idea of them killing someone for her.

So many plot holes...
salim339723 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
1- When Darlene killed Jacob, I thought a great war was going to happen, but no she just wanted a baby... Why didn't she just threaten the Byrdes ? Without killing her husband. She did a lot worse than adopting a baby, so I'm sure Jacob would have not tried to kill her if that's all she wanted to do. All in all, poisoning him and then simply surrendering just to adopt a baby doesn't make sense.

2- Cade killing the most intelligent FBI agent. Didn't he want to go back to his addicted mother ? Why all of a sudden he decided to go fishing ?

And wasn't Cade supposed to be smart ? Killing an fbi agent and then putting some bushes on his car isn't smart, even Boyd wouldn't do that.

3- Why Wendy changed her mind at the last second ? What happened ? Maybe they'll answer this in S3.

I like the series, there's always stuff going on so it's hard to get bored while watching. However I always questioned some events that didn't make sense to me. Every episode has a new Written By name, which is the reason I guess why the story feels sometimes incoherent.

This sucks. Stupid show

Warning: Spoilers
It was depressing to see that all the efforts put down by Marty were wasted by her stupid wife. I honestly feel that all the other reviews here are paid. You cannot compare this to breaking bad at all.
