The last episode of The Mandalorian was a dream come true for Boba Fett fans. After the brief glimpse of him in the season opener, he finally arrived to reclaim his armor, kick some ass and live up to his reputation as one of the most dangerous men in the galaxy. Even without his arsenal, he was a force to be reckoned with, smashing apart Stormtroopers with a gaffi stick. But once he had access to his old firepower, they didn’t stand a chance, culminating in him firing a missile to destroy the two fleeing Imperial troop carriers.
This convinced Din Djarin that Boba was worthy of respect, though he only considered him fit to wear the armor after he displayed his holographic Mandalorian chain code, thus proving his lineage. The message was quickly decoded by enterprising fans as well, who were intrigued at its mention of “Mentor Jaste-” and “Concord Dawn.

The story touched every book in the X-Men family and brought us answers to a few of the lingering questions that were casually tossed at the audience during House of X/Powers of X. But X of Swords asked more questions than it answered. And heading into the next phase of X-Mastermind Jonathan Hickman and the rest of the magnificent team of X-Men creators’ big plan, that’s a very good thing.

Lovecraft Country Episode 4
Christina pulls into the Northside in her silver Bentley, unscathed, backdropped by Rihanna’s “Bitch Better Have My Money”, perfectly capturing her vibe of wealth and privilege and lack of fucks to give. A mood. Neither the destruction of Ardham Lodge or Tic’s ill-advised murder attempt have slowed her down, and she’s up to her usual cryptic nonsense. She’s looking for Hiram’s orrery, apparently the key to his time machine—because why not?— and has upset the local wizard wannabe, Captain Lancaster. Now, she has to contend with Winthrop’s branch of magical miscreants on top of playing whatever game she’s playing with Tic.

The zombie genre may owe its existence to George Romero’s “Night of the Living Dead,” but the concept of flesh-eating reanimated corpses has never sat still. The world’s problems metastasized throughout the second half of the 20th century as the speed of the information yielded a new age of confusion, the constant sense of rapid-fire anxiety that media scholar Douglas Rushkoff termed “Present Shock.” By the time Zack Snyder’s “Dawn of the Dead” remake came out in 2004, zombies were sprinting, unstoppable monstrosities — essentially the same consumerist metaphor of Romero’s original “Night” sequel, but turned up to 11.
And it was Snyder’s movie, not the 1978 original, that filmmaker Yeon Sang-ho recalled as his first encounter with the undead. “That was when I started my interest in zombies,” Yeon said, in an email interview through a translator from South Korea. Even today, he added, “it’s the most...

Director Zack Snyder is replacing actor Chris D’Elia with Tig Notaro (Star Trek: Discovery) for his new zombie movie, Army of the Dead, according to Deadline.
Reshoots are planned to incorporate Notaro into the movie since Army of the Dead has already completed shooting and is currently in post-production for a 2021 debut on Netflix. The move comes after D’Elia was accused this past June of multiple instances of sexual misconduct involving underage girls.
The comedian and actor has denied the claims, saying, “I know I have said and done things that might have offended people during my career, but I have never knowingly pursued any underage women at any point.” The accusations were enough, however, for Netflix to cancel an unscripted prank show the service was developing with D’Elia, who was also dropped by his management and agent.

There was a lot of dismay from Planet of the Apes fans last December when it was announced that Disney, soon after getting hold of the property from Fox, were fast-tracking a relaunch of the franchise. Given the enormous success of the recent prequel trilogy, there wasn’t much interest in seeing it rebooted this quickly. The latest word on the production says that it won’t be a total reset, though, and more like the next stage of the same story. And this news comes our way via the director himself, Wes Ball.
In an interview with Discussing Film, Ball didn’t go into details about what he’s got planned, but did tease that his movie would be set in the same universe as the Rise/Dawn/War trilogy and that fans of those films can rest assured that they’ll enjoy his effort.
“We have a take.

Victoria Mahoney, the first woman ever to work behind the camera on a “Star Wars” film, is in talks to make her major studio feature directorial debut on “Kill Them All” for Paramount.
“Kill Them All” is Paramount’s adaptation of a graphic novel by Kyle Starks. Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec, are producing the project, from a script by James Coyne. “Kill Them All” first started out as a project launched on Kickstarter before being acquired by Oni Press.
“Kill Them All” centers on a hard drinking, former cop who wants his job back and the world’s greatest assassin who wants revenge. They can get both if they fight their way to the top floor of a skyscraper of crime – and if they can Kill Them All. It’s like a reverse “Die Hard” except they’re fighting up into the building rather than trying to fight their way out.

“Seasons bring a new account-wide progression system to Fallout 76 that overhauls the current Challenge system and helps players rake in lots of new rewards along the way,” reads a press release from Bethesda. “Seasons will be available to all players and offer a unified progression path to unlock dozens of new and unique rewards from Power Armor paints and C.A.M.P. items to Atoms, Legendary Scrip, Perk Packs, and so much more.”

Each season features unique pieces of content that will be available from here on out, but it also sounds like each season will feature content that can only be unlocked/accessed during a specific time period. When “Utopia Falls” creator R.T. Thorne pitched a sci-fi hip-hop series about a group of teens living in a dystopian future and battling in a performing arts competition called the Exemplar, he knew the concept was an unusual one.

Marvel announced the first major crossover of Jonathan Hickman’s Dawn of X era of X-Men. X of Swords will tie all the X-titles together in a ’90s throwback, 15-part crossover touching every single book in the line.
“One of the cool things we are able to do now, because we’ve established the X-line and really know where we’re going, is that we’re able to try some different things out,” Hickman said in a statement. “X of Swords will be an old school crossover that meanders through the entire line. It’s almost like chapters of a story.”
Hickman, you’ll recall, reinvigorated the X-Men line with House of X and Powers of X. And like Powers of X, X of Swords is using the Roman numeral X as a sort of low-nerdy double entendre. Where Powers of X examined four time periods of exponential scales, X...

Amazon Studios and MacRo Television Studios have partnered with Ava DuVernay’s Array Filmworks to bring Nebula- and Hugo Award-winning author Octavia Butler’s classic 1987 science-fiction novel, “Dawn,” to the small screen.
In what remarkably is the first time that the Science Fiction Hall of Famer’s work has been adapted, Victoria Mahoney, who served as second unit director on “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker,” will pen the series and will also direct the pilot.
“Dawn” is the first book in Butler’s “Lilith’s Brood” trilogy (formerly “Xenogenesis”). It tells the story of an African-American woman who enlists the help of aliens to resurrect the human race, 250 years after a nuclear war. Its official synopsis reads:
Lilith Iyapo has just lost her husband and son when atomic fire consumes Earth — the last stage of the planet’s final war. Hundreds of years later Lilith awakes, deep in the...

Amazon Studios has hopped on board with Macro Television Studios to partner with Ava DuVernay’s Array Filmworks to develop a TV adaptation of Octavia E. Butler’s 1987 sci-fi novel Dawn. Victoria Mahoney has been set as creator and will adapt and direct the pilot.
The project has been marinating for a while as Deadline exclusively reported that Macro, Array and Mahoney were developing the project in 2017. With Amazon on board, it seems that the project is gaining traction with development. The book, which was optioned by Macro, won a Hugo Award and tells the story of a black woman who works with aliens to resurrect the human race 250 years after a nuclear war.
The sci-fi genre is a good fit for Mahoney as she made history as the first woman (and woman of color for that matter) to direct a Star Wars film.

Victoria Mahoney, who last year became the first woman to direct part of a “Star Wars” film, is developing a new sci-fi project at Amazon.
Mahoney is teaming up with Ava DuVernay, her Array banner and Macro Television Studios to adapt Octavia E. Butler’s 1987 science-fiction novel “Dawn” for the small screen.
