Mundane porn suspense

Babes.com and its DVD spin-off label are known for all-sex content, but I gave this new story line feature from them a spin, and it proved marginally interesting.

There's never any author or crew credits on this material, and it's a case of giving minimal effort to achieve merely passable results. No renaissance of Adult Cinema in the offing here.

Donnie Rock inadvertently makes like Joe Friday in his dull line readings as the police detective assigned to investigate the murder of Senator Theodore Montgomery, well-played in flashbacks by Tommy Gunn. He interrogates Monty's mistress, busty and beautiful redhead Dani Jensen, wife Joan (smoothly played by India Summer) and the dead man's lovely and oh-so horny daughter Miranda (up and coming starlet Joseline Kelly).

The uncredited script is interesting enough to hold one's attention, and all the babes, including Alison Rey as India's young personal assistant and lover, are hot in XXX action. Rock reports to Lt. Ross, essayed by the current top Black actress in porn Ana Foxxx, whose acting and especially line readings here are top-notch (I usually see her in roles not requiring any acting at all).

This could have been a hardcore equivalent to those softcore Erotic Thrillers that were so popular on video and cable in the 1990s, but little care is given to the production. For example, Miranda (Jos. Kelly) is interviewed conveniently in her bedroom but it's a truly lousy set, with fake exposed brick walls, hardly where the Senator's daughter would be domiciled. Lighting is harsh and too bright, the anonymous director more interested in ensuring that the sex footage be clear and 100% visible rather than executed with any sense of style.

The solution of the mystery is predictable but still satisfying, leading to an amoral ending.
