An interesting start to the series, decent acting and captivating storyline. Karppi is a strong lead and carries the episode well.

Warning: Spoilers
I had expected to review the entire series but this episode was SO bad, I felt it necessary to write this review in protest.

Two detectives are trying to capture a fleeing suspect on a ship. Then comes the infamous words, "Wait for Backup." And the ridiculous retort, "there's no time to wait."

The moment one of the characters failed to wait for backup I knew EXACTLY what was about to happen. That same character was going to be hit on the head from behind by the criminal. AND THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED.

This "can't wait for backup" ploy has been WAY overused. Moreover, in this episode what transpired was totally unnecessary. In real life the cops ALWAYS wait for backup. Because unlike fictional characters, if they make a mistake, their families will go without a breadwinner in the house for the rest of their lives.

In this episode the behavior of the two detectives was totally illogical. What should have happened was, one cop goes to the bridge and notifies the captain that police are on board and more are about to arrive. The other detective stands by the gangplank and prevents the suspect from leaving. Done deal.

There was NO reason to search the ship - PERIOD. You simply prevent the suspect from leaving and then board the ship with overwhelming police presence.

This is only the first episode and already the writers are making it difficult to suspend disbelief. Which is a shame because there are interesting aspects to this drama. I hope this series improves but I'm skeptical at this point.
