Alright..."winter of love." Goes to show how one misunderstanding can end badly. In the episode, it picks up after episode 9 in which Mei offers to sleep with Yuzu out of gratitude for helping her with that one incident with her grandfather as well as for helping her overcome that whole debacle with her father. Sadly, it doesn't lead to what you'd expect as Yuzu basically freezes up because her mind couldn't process what was going on before her. This causes Mei to believe that Yuzu was rejecting her, even though that was clearly not what Yuzu was insinuating.
This rejection kind of seeps into the next day as Yuzu has to race to the train station in order to meet her class for that school trip. Along the way, she stumbles into a young girl named Sara Tachibana who had also been left behind by her class. The two take a train together wherein Yuzu confesses to Sara that she had a crush on her stepsister and yet she was wary of taking her love for Mei that further. Really, I just love Yuzu here. Anyone would've jumped at the chance of sleeping with Mei, but she instead tries to see Mei as more than an object of attraction. But this only complicates matters because Sara explains that she had fallen for a girl who hd helped her when she was left behind. That girl of course turns out to be Mei.....oh, snap.
There are other things to enjoy about the episode such as Mei slowly beginning to genuinely fall in love with Yuzu, and how you can feel her heartbreak at seemingly being rejected by Yuzu. I also loved Nina, Sara's twin younger sister who is somehow taller than her. She was really bubbly and adorable. She might be my second favorite girl after Harumin. maybe.
Two more episodes left to go...I need to consider watching other yuri anime when this show concludes. Or at least some yuri-related manga because I am still in disbelief over Chapter 36.....
