A music video of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs shooting a music video for their 2003 hit "Maps". The backstory says Karen O.'s teary eyes were real because her then-boyfriend, Liars frontman Angus Andrew, was supposed to be at the shoot but ran hours late, and she got bent out of shape thinking he'd no-show. Plodding direction by Patrick Daughters, who seemed mostly concerned with making the cinematography look slick; he does nothing with the film-within-a-film trope except give us long tracking shots of the bored crew/audience. But at least he had sense enough to keep a tight camera on Karen's lachrymose expressions. It amounts to a star turn for the singer and she gobbles it up, right down to that single teardrop rolling down her cheek.
