Hypnotic in the visual and aural construct and delivery, although I appreciated it more than I loved it

La Chute plays out like some sort of colorful hellish nightmare. Filled with unsettling images, reoccurring movements, and a soundtrack which is never repulsive but at the same time manages to totally unnerve - this is an experimental animation which is beautiful to watch on that level. The construction and vision of the film is great in what it does, and I found it very easy to admire and appreciate it for this. It didn't go beyond that though. I wasn't that engaged in the film itself, so much as the craft behind it. Part of this is about me and not the film, as generally I prefer something with a story to tell, rather than very experiment or abstract short films; so probably this is not something that would work with me as it would with someone more into this type of thing. That said though, it is still hypnotic in how it is delivered visually and aurally, and it is worth seeing for that.
