Exactly after I saw this episode I knew that the US/Taliban deal was made in the real world and for a moment I lost track on reality. Great job writing this show.

Saul has a few choice words for Tasneem, the conniving officer! We shall see how long the Peace lasts. Fantastic speech by President Warner and the suspense is way up and amazing how, again they are following today's World events!
A very tense and great episode

Greetings from Lithuania.
"Chalk One Up" so far was a highlight of the last season 8. I really enjoyed previous episodes in this seasons, which lead to this. We are still 8 episodes left in this great, great season so far, so i'm looking forward for a new twists and things to come. If they will come at this pace, directing and writing as in this episode, i will be very annoyed knowing that this is the last season, because this season delivers only goods so far. Not the best episode ever, but a very tense one with a great cliffhanger.

I never come on here to Rate anything. After that episode I jumped to give my input. Starting from the moment the President landed it was non-stop edge of your seat bullshi^.
I thought Carrie was going to blow the deal pulling that last fast one, then seeing Heli I go down, then seeing whoever firing up at Heli II.
Excellent job to the writers, and freaking excellent show!!!

wow did the homeland series see the future?

For there to be real life peace talks when Homeland is airing this is truly amazing. They did a great job.
The whole story line with POTUS is never going to happen. For anyone to have read or watched how security is handled when the President visits troops near the front will know this simply would never happen. For a show that does a good job of being pretty based in reality this was a huge miss in my opinion. There are so many ways it could have been done with a better sense of reality, but life shall go on.
Beyond that another great ep leading up to the end of what's been a fantastic series.

Good episode but I feel the pacing is still quite slow and there seems to still be some setup still being established, even though we're four episodes in now. The Samira storyline in this episode seems fairly pointless for now, but maybe it'll become relevant. Same with the President storyline, it seems almost borderline silly and unbelievable at the moment but I could be proven wrong. The fact is, this episode doesn't give us enough to make any kind of strong judgements, but it gave us a good cliffhanger that's for sure. The tension was excellent as well.

Well, this is at least a clear storyline to follow which it did not appear at the start of the season, but the show just feels dumbed down right now. Compare this to how fresh and different Homeland was in season one.

Talk about jumping the shark! not in a trillion years - in fact, I'm so disgusted that they're attempting to feed us this bullarky - I'm calling it - Homeland T.O.D. 3/1/20 - I will use my imagination and finish it to my liking, sans the complete inplausibility of (which I can't specify without entering spoiler zone- anyone doubting my assertion, I'm happy to lay it out) but I won't be continuing on this journey with Showtime and the diehard fans - bide it well my friends
Homeland back on track in season 8, but leftist writers still need to project their fantasies about killing our President.

Overall, Homeland S8 felt like it was going back to its very successful and exciting routes. Cloaks, daggers, intrigue and betrayals.
Then this bumbling, ridiculous episode happened where the writers had to remind us (for the 77th time) just how much they heroically and bravely hate Trump. So they concocted this most implausible, fantastical train wreck of an episode that would never happen in real life. But, in doing so, they got to vicariously-- through the show-- kill the Orange Man. And not even with a crackling, twisting plot. Just a couple Taliban with AK's and lucky RPG's guided by the magical will of Allah.
Give me a break. The entire area surrounding the president for 50 miles out would be thermal-mapped and have drones flying interlocking kill patterns overhead so any ragtag idiots hoping for a lols shot could be identified and deterred, detained, captured or killed depending on immediacy of the threat level.
This episode was beyond dumb.

Totally Jumped The Shark.

Warning: Spoilers
I refuse to believe that a helicopter carrying the POTUS and the Afghan president would go down. Oops, maybe? No - we're the USA! Even if a president was dumb enough to announce his arrival in Afghanistan before leaving that country, we just wouldn't let the chopper go down. And fighters supposedly firing from the ground? Talk about jumping the shark.
