Beautiful Brother Sister LOVE Story
rajdoctor12 October 2020
I saw this beautiful French movieIt's rough translation is The PAPER FLAGS - debut directed by Nathan Ambriosioni (18 years).

It tells a story of RE-INTEGRATION of a person who has spent long time in prison and wants to come in terms with life and society in finding happiness, love, and dignity.

24 year old Charlie ((Noemie Meriant) )works as a departmental store counter clerk and loves sketching. One day - her elder brother (now 30 years) Vincent (Guillaume Gouix) arrives at her rented home after spending 12 years in prison (behavioral ANGER issues - which he still has)Charlie does not even recognize her brother immediately - 12 years and so much has changed. But she allows him to stay with her, helps me search for a job, re-cherishes their childhood memories, both are so happy until on Charlie's birthday their father (who can't stand Vincent's anger) arrives - surprised to see Vincent there, and doesn't acknowledge accepting Vincent, that makes Vincent angry and Charlie throws Vincent out of the house. But after that Charlie regrets and inconsolably cries and searches for her brother Vincent.

This movie is an emotional tale of pure true AGAPE LOVE.between two siblings who had wonderful childhood memories of each other, they enjoy and LOVE each other a lot. Vincent (though struggling with his anger issues) wants to be with Charlie and care for her as an elder brother Similarly Charlie as a younger sister - acts like Vincent's mother - showering so much LOVE, care and compassion.

What makes the tale unique is the age bracket of the couple (sister-brother) - 24 and 30 years of age.

Direction by Nathan is very good. The casting is immaculate and performance excellent. There is always fear of Vincent's anger simmering and Guillaume Gouix has played his role perfectly. Yet, Noemie Meriant as younger sister - is outstanding. She carries the soul of the movie with her.

The movie makes us smile and cry many times, and makes us feel to have a brother - sister - with whom we can share such a healthy pure relationship of LOVE.

I would go with 7.5 out of 10 stars for this wonderful movie.

Truth within a conflict that we do not like to discuss

Warning: Spoilers
Courageous Film about a topic that is rarely discussed... life after confinement. In a very simple script the film discusses the complexity of welcoming someone you love who has been incarcerated and how it might or might not be possible. A vibrant performance from Noémie Merlant and Guillaume Gouix who portray this sister- brother relationship that comes to terms with life itself.
