Many of the titles of the musical pieces used on the soundtrack include the word "Blue" in reference to Dr. Manhattan: "Rhapsody in Blue" by George Gershwin; "The Blue Danube" by Johann Strauss; "Mr. Blue" by The Fleetwoods.
This is the only episode of the first season to have a post-credit scene.
Angela tells Dr. Manhattan that he is like Zeus, visiting earth in the form of a mortal creature in order to seduce a woman. Their conversation also mentions Europa, one of Jupiter's moons. In Greek myth, Europa was a woman that Zeus abducted and seduced while assuming the form of a bull.
The "Manor House" in this episode is Penrhyn Castle, a country house in Llandygai, Bangor, Gwynedd, North Wales.
The episode won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Single-Camera Picture Editing for a Limited Series or Movie.
