Barrientos needs the group to become stronger, unified, and organized, so as to put more pressure on the President, who is currently concerned with the upcoming celebration of the Olympic Games. The students will finally become an organized force after the apparent death of one of their leaders. Barrientos, through his infiltrated agents, will assist them in becoming a more cohesive force. After an escalation in demonstrations, and subsequent government repressions, the movement will eventually be legitimized thanks to a march led by Javier Barros Sierra, dean of the UNAM, and a political enemy of the current president, Gustavo Diaz Ordaz.
