Matthew McConaughey gave an impassioned and emotional speech at the White House on Tuesday calling for “responsible gun ownership” in the wake of the school shooting at Robb Elementary two weeks ago in Uvalde, Texas.
The actor and Uvalde native choked back some tears during his press briefing, talking about one of the student victims killed in the attack and referring to her parents holding a pair of green sneakers, saying that the only way her child could be identified was her shoes.
McConaughey also stressed the need to invest in mental health care, safer schools, restraining overzealous media coverage but also the need for responsible gun ownership.

While Kyle is kind and a bit of a pushover, Mike is a train wreck, who, despite his affection for Kyle, always seems to sabotage Kyle’s relationships. Told through a series of vignettes, Kyle struggles to deal with the fact that his best friend might just be the worst person for him.

Filmmaker Luca Guadagnino has made a splash at the Golden Globes in the past. His Italian drama “I Am Love” (2010) was nominated for Best Foreign Language Film, and then “Call Me by Your Name” (2017) picked up three bids for Best Film Drama and for Timothee Chalamet and Armie Hammer‘s performances. But neither of those films took home any trophies. Could Guadagnino finally win for his move to series television with “We Are Who We Are” on HBO Max? He wouldn’t be the first big-screen auteur to win on the small screen.
