It's not a music video. It's an ad for "Aja"!

Wait...what? If people back in the 1970's when of this video ad release were confused, even nowadays thinking they dreamt about it, can you imagine my reaction while watching this? That's a first for me in actually watching a promotional TV commercial for a music album - in this case Steely Dan's magnificent album "Aja" and the ad comes with a voice over by Eartha Kitt.

The summary presented on the page is totally out of line, Fagen and Becker can only be heard in this one, with the title song while Kitt intrigues the viewer in making us feel mystified by the album. Just buy it! The great jazz/soft rock duo made one other documentary mainly foccusing on "Aja" explaining the concept and creation of each song (they left out one song, can't remember which one), so what you have is a 30-second spot for what would become their most successful album with masterpieces such as "Home at Last", "Josie", "Deacon Blues" and "Peg" - nevermind, it's a perfect album that inspired a whole generation and broke many records out there.

Gets a gold trophy, full ten star rating for being a rare moment in advertising, still existing and also made with great quality with an exotic setting - it feels like "Kiss of the Spider Woman" but way before the movie - that makes you curious in getting the album, listening to its amazing songs, Steely Dan fans or beginners. 10/10

Perfect documentary about a Perfect Album

Warning: Spoilers
Aja is easily one of the best albums ever released. Featuring an all-star cast of studio musicians hand-picked by Becker and Fagen, it's truly a must-listen for anybody who enjoys Jazz/Rock. So it would make sense that a documentary about its production would be great as well. In this documentary, they go in-depth about the legendary composition, instrumentation, lyricism, harmony, and production that went into every track on the album. (Bar I Got the News, yet it is played during the outro.) Sprinkled throughout are little bits of humor that tie in nicely with the documentary, such as Bernard Purdie's bit about how he came up with "The Purdie Shuffle." Overall, a must-watch for ANY Steely Dan fan, or Classic Rock fan in general. 10/10 would watch again!

Steely Dan: AJA (1977) Review:

It's an album that is just apart of the landscape of other genres that were around at the time.

Is it influential? It's not something that gets played a lot today,

but if Jazz-fusion is something you like, there are definitely worse albums out there than this.
