I rarely post reviews on here but felt I had to come to the show's defence after seeing so many negative reviews, mostly from people who passionately don't want to see their favourite gothic classic manipulated so much.
Well, I think they did a great job, even if the climax wasn't quite as satisfying as I hoped and what would be the point of just doing another classic, 100% faithful version anyway? As per the recent Scrooge retelling that I see a lot of people grouping with this in their "well that didn't happen in the book" pigeonhole of disdain.
Bang is great, as is Wells and the rest of the cast. It's beautifully staged and shot and the balance of horror and humour and intrigue is excellent. Can't please everybody all the time though, eh?
