In honor of The Sopranos‘ 25th anniversary, HBO has launched a new Sopranos TikTok account that posts 25-second cuts of each of the show’s 86 episodes. Five years removed, "Star Wars Rebels" remains one of the most beloved creations to come about during the Disney era of Lucasfilm. Across four seasons of animated television, co-creator Dave Filoni and his team helped showcase the formation of the Rebellion with new characters, who would occasionally cross paths with familiar ones. A big reason that the show feels so satisfying is that they managed to really stick the landing, with one heck of a series finale. But making that finale was quite the undertaking, so much so that Filoni had to keep some big secrets along the way.
Speaking to IGN after the finale in 2018, Filoni explained that he had to be very deliberate in his approach to the two-part finale, "Family Reunion and Farewell." The finale takes viewers years after the main events of the series, showing what happened after the conclusion of the original "Star Wars" trilogy.

When Calah Lane was born, her umbilical cord had a knot in it.
She excitedly shares this “fun” fact over a Zoom call with Variety, with the unbridled enthusiasm only a 14-year-old could have. “I mean, that’s kind of sad,” she admits. “But I survived and everything’s good!”
She’s not wrong – things are good for her right now. Barely a teenager, she’s already crafted an impressive résumé, making her film debut in 2019’s “The Day Shall Come” and picking up small roles on series like “This Is Us” and “Family Reunion.”
This year, she found her breakout role in Paul King’s “Wonka,” starring Timothée Chalamet in an origin story of Roald Dahl’s beloved chocolatier character. Lane plays Noodle, a precocious but jaded orphan who teams up with the idealistic Willy to make magic.

As confirmed by Deadline, Richard Roundtree, the groundbreaking star of the original "Shaft" franchise has died as a result of pancreatic cancer. He was 81. Roundtree was a gifted athlete who played for New Rochelle High School's nationally-ranked and undefeated football team but later dropped out of college after he was scouted by Ebony Fashion Fair founder Eunice W. Johnson and began modeling for companies like Duke hair products and Salem cigarettes. A few years later, he joined the Negro Ensemble Company theater group in New York City, where he became a fast leading man. This led to a successful career in front of the camera, where Roundtree would become colloquially known as the "first Black action hero."
He appeared in a number of Blaxploitation films in the 1970s, but he became a cinematic icon as detective John Shaft in the films "Shaft," "Shaft's Big Score!," "Shaft in Africa," and the short-lived series adaptation.

Richard Roundtree, who broke ground with his signature role in the Shaft movie franchise, died October 24 after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer with his family at his bedside. He was 81.
Roundtree’s career spanned five decades and included everything from his most popular blaxploitation role to a very early appearance on As the World Turns in 1956 to being a Season 2 main cast member on Ava DuVernay’s OWN series Cherish the Day last year.
He is best known for playing detective John Shaft in the 1971 action thriller and its sequels, Shaft’s Big Score! (1972) and Shaft in Africa (1973) as well as the short-lived 1973 Shaft TV series.
For his performance in the original film, Roundtree was nominated for a New Star of the Year Golden Globe and hailed as the first Black action hero. More importantly, the films made Shaft a cultural hero, a symbol of Black power onscreen, at the box office and beyond.

This post contains spoilers for "Ahsoka" episode 3: "Time to Fly."
The latest episode of "Ahsoka," directed by Steph Green and written by Dave Filoni, adds more intricacy to the web of conspiracy surrounding the whereabouts of Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen) and his potential return. Ahsoka (Rosario Dawson), alongside close confidantes Hera Syndulla (Mary Elizabeth-Winstead) and Sabine Wren (Natasha Liu Bordizzo), tries to edge closer to the truth of Ezra's disappearance alongside Thrawn, while weeding out Imperial loyalists hiding among the ranks of the fledgling New Republic. A connective tissue between the animated series, "Star Wars: Clone Wars" and "Star Wars Rebels," and the events of the sequel era are woven here, with familiar faces returning or reintroduced, including Chancellor Mon Mothma (Genevieve O'Reilly).
Amidst the thrilling dogfighting and the tense, slow-burn dynamic between Ahsoka and Sabine, the episode introduces a live-action Jacen Syndulla (Evan Whitten), who makes...

Tyler Perry‘s most famous character, Madea, has appeared in nearly half the director’s films: a gun-toting, “Hallelu-yer”-shouting force of nature, and an outrageous drag tribute to his mother and aunt. But some films in the Madea Cinematic Universe are gleefully manic, while others arrive in what appears to be a half-finished state of sad melodrama and mediocrity. Not counting her cameo appearance in the otherwise Madea-free “Meet the Browns,” or the animated kids offering “Madea’s Tough Love,” here’s where to find maximum Madea mayhem:
10. “Madea’s Witness Protection”
To look at box office receipts, this one would appear to have been a fan favorite, the second-highest-grossing Madea movie to date. But it came along at a time when Perry was making minor noise about retiring the character, and it really shows. The film looks cheap even by Perry’s budget-minded standards, the jokes are flat, and...

A big question hung over the final night of Coachella 2023’s second weekend: What now? Seven days earlier, on April 16, Frank Ocean had closed out the festival’s first weekend with a performance that he himself acknowledged as chaotic at best. Some fans were devastated by it, while others found it off-handedly brilliant; either way, it added up to one of the weirdest headline sets ever.

Blink-182 performed at Coachella with Tom DeLonge for the first time in nine years, kicking up the nostalgia as they blasted through an electric, testosterone-fueled set for a massive crowd that packed in the stage area.
The band opened with “Family Reunion” and carried through non-stop, angsty bangers, from “All the Small Things” to “I Miss You” to “Feeling This” to “What’s My Age Again?” They also played “Dysentery Gary,” with Long joking that he’d given himself a “C+” for his performance. Blink-182’s Tom DeLonge, Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker played their first show together in nearly a decade at Coachella.
The Friday night performance at the Sahara Tent was announced just days prior to the festival’s kick-off. DeLonge, Hoppus, and Barker sounded in fine form as they ripped through an 18-song comprised primarily of greatest hits like “Anthem Part Two,” “The Rock Show,” “What’s My Age Again?” and “All the Small Things.” The setlist also included the live debut of their new song “Edging” as well as the first performance of “Aliens Exist” with DeLonge since 2001.
In between songs, DeLonge and Hoppus delivered their trademark banter, delivering crass commentary about the Dalai Lama and DeLonge’s mother’s vagina.

Reality television is a beneficial platform for many celebrities to keep their names and careers relevant, but having so much exposure can also be detrimental. Tia and Tamera Mowry had their own successful reality series, but quit the show amid pressures from their network to drum up the drama. Spoilers for "Star Wars: The Mandalorian" Chapter 17 - The Apostate follow.
On the third season premiere of "The Mandalorian," there was a striking moment in hyperspace. As Grogu looks out at the streaking tunnel of lightspeed, he sees a figure fading in and out of the blue. The silhouette becomes more prominent and he realizes it's a creature out there.
The camera pulls back to reveal many of these creatures, surrounding the Mandalorian's modified N1 starfighter. Grogu can hardly believe it and crawls out of his pod to join a sleeping Din Djarin for comfort after witnessing such a spectacle.
These shadows we see are purrgils —mythical creatures that can travel through hyperspace all on their own, causing a hazard for spacers flying through their migration patterns. They're beautiful sights, doubly so in their first live-action appearance, and they have a very important role in the "Star Wars" mythos...

This article contains The Strays spoilers.
Netflix is dishing out another horror original, and this time it’s the directorial debut of Nathaniel Martello-White’s The Strays. Feeling like a mix between Parasite and Get Out, the story follows one woman’s picture-perfect life in the suburbs that’s torn apart by the ghosts of her past and her own internalized prejudices.
Ashley Madekwe stars as Cheryl, a Black woman who begins the movie by seemingly escaping an abusive relationship while being on the bottom rung of the housing ladder. It’s a generally miserable existence that’s all-too-common in the United Kingdom. After an opening sequence where she leaves a note about “stepping out,” the story picks up some “years later,” and Cheryl (now going by the name of Neve) has found the grass is greener on the other side. She’s settled into family life and holds down...

This weekend marks the inaugural Children’s and Family Emmy Awards, and like many awards shows, there are a number of notable names who you might not have realized could end up being winners. These names range from a former president and Oscar-winning filmmakers to famous actors and popular singers.
Probably the most notable of these nominees are former President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama. Barack just won his first Emmy back in September for Best Narration for Netflix’s “Our Great National Parks.” Now he and Michelle are nominated for four Emmys at the upcoming ceremony, all in their capacities as executive producers. They are nominated for Best Preschool Series (“Waffles + Mochi”), Fiction Special (“Waffles + Mochi’s Holiday Feast”), Preschool Animated Series and Short Form Program (“We the People”).

Exclusive: 93-year-old Oscar nominee June Squibb (Nebraska) has found her first, long overdue leading role in Thelma, an upcoming “action” comedy written and directed by Josh Margolin, which has wrapped production. The actress is joined in the ensemble by Fred Hechinger (The White Lotus), Richard Roundtree (Shaft), Parker Posey (The Staircase), Clark Gregg (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) and Malcolm McDowell (A Clockwork Orange).
Margolin’s first feature, based on a real-life experience involving his grandmother, is (half-jokingly) billed as Nebraska meets Mission: Impossible. It centers on 90-year-old grandmother Thelma Post (Squibb), who gets duped by a phone scammer pretending to be her grandson and sets out on a uniquely treacherous quest to reclaim what was taken from her.
Zoë Worth, a longtime collaborator of Margolin’s, and producing partner Chris Kaye started developing Thelma after reading an early draft in their writer’s group, Rock & Roll Universe. The film will be their first produced together.

Exclusive: Former ICM political strategist Brandon Sharp has launched Agenda, a management and production company that will be dedicated to advancing inclusive entertainment and media projects. The company will work with TV and film writers, actors, directors, musicians, authors, artists, public intellectuals, playwrights, and business founders from predominately untapped communities to realize their projects on more equitable grounds.
“Representation for representation’s sake is not enough,” said Sharp. “The strides we’ve made for people of color in front of and behind the camera are significant, but the business side of media and entertainment remains largely unchallenged. The people who stand to profit the most from the boon in ‘diverse’ content are not the originators of that content, and that has to change.”

Tamera Mowry-Housley would love to give “Sister, Sister” fans the revival they’ve been calling for, but it has to be the right idea.
During an appearance on “The Jennifer Hudson Show”, the actress shared that she and her twin sister, Tia Mowry, have been approached with pitches to reprise their roles, but nothing has been right for them.
“Here’s the thing, Tia and I are both just booked, which is a great problem to have,” the actress began when asked whether something was in the works. “The other thing is, we have to make sure the idea is amazing because ‘Sister, Sister’ is iconic! I don’t want it to be lame.”
When Hudson stated that any revival with the sisters involved wouldn’t be lame, Tamera revealed that the duo has already heard some ideas and “it was not it — it wasn’t right.”
But there’s still hope!
