Star Wars fans have been left reeling following the arrival of The Mandalorian‘s season 2 finale. “Chapter 16: The Rescue” sees Din Djarin and his band of allies infiltrate Moff Gideon’s ship to rescue Grogu, though only thanks to the last minute appearance of an iconic Jedi Master are they able to walk away the victors. While this iteration of Luke Skywalker isn’t played by Mark Hamill – the actor’s de-aged face was superimposed on a double – Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni certainly nailed the character’s authenticity and strength as he carved a path through hordes of Dark Troopers.
Luke, of course, isn’t the only recognizable character from the Original Trilogy to make a comeback in the series. Legendary bounty hunter Boba Fett (played by Temuera Morrison) made his long-awaited return to Star Wars canon as well after his presumed death in Return of the Jedi,...

Holy fakakta, The Mandalorian, what the eff did you just do??? And me here, without my face powder and heart pills! I don't even take heart pills, but I'd better start now.
The Mandalorian Season 2 Episode 8 is the most shocking episode by far, even if fanboy predictions may have been floating.
It's the episode most anticipated by major Star Wars fans for two full seasons.
"The Rescue" is shocking, as easter eggs become the narrative. The result is extraordinary and otherworldly.
We not only welcome a young post Return of the Jedi Luke Skywalker -- and R2-frickin-D2! -- into the porridge, but the post ending credits scene is all sorts of nostalgic Star Wars mayhem.
And Jabba's former palace -- now Bib Fortuna's -- serves as a teaser for the upcoming The Book of Boba Fett, which is tagged to premiere in December of 2021.
It's all just too much.

It seems like The Mandalorian decided that going out with a bang is for plebians, and instead, the series took us on yet another emotional roller coaster that leaves us with more questions than answers! The series season two finale dropped on Dec. 18, and among a plethora of revelations and very explosive battles, fans were finally able to meet the Jedi master we've been waiting for since "Chapter 13: The Jedi." Who had their bets on Mark Hamill's Luke Skywalker making his Mandalorian debut with some CGI de-aging tech, because I sure didn't!

Exclusive: 3 Ball Productions, the company behind Paramount Network’s Bar Rescue, is developing a U.S. version of pandemic-proof Belgian competition series The Container Cup.
In a competitive situation, the company, which previously produced The Biggest Loser, optioned the rights to the Belgian format, which was developed, sold, produced and aired under shelter-in-place orders in the small European country.
It marks one of the first international Covid-proof formats to make it to market with 3 Ball taking it out imminently to broadcasters.
The Container Cup pits athletic celebrities against professional athletes in a series of intense challenges covering a number of sports except it all takes place inside two massive shipping containers, each equipped with numerous cameras and delivered directly to the competitors’ respective homes.
In the Belgian format, 30 athletes competed in seven disciplines including a 1.5 km distance run, a climbing course with monkey bars, hit a golf ball as far away as possible,...

With much of the TV biz on Covid-19 lockdown and the fate of many “bubble” series still Tbd, Fox forged ahead with its 2020 Fall TV schedule announcement on Monday. Updated with video: Joaquin Phoenix capped a triumphant awards season on Sunday night when he claimed the Oscar for best actor for Joker, the subversive psychological thriller that defied the conventions of superhero cinema and, in the process, delivered the most unlikely billion-dollar hit in Hollywood history.
Joker premiered five months ago to instant acclaim at the 76th Venice Film Festival, the world’s oldest film festival, where the film claimed the Golden Lion for Best Film. Phoenix won the Venice festival’s acting award which propelled him into an awards season of wall-to-wall success. Phoenix claimed every major prize along the way: a Golden Globe, a Screen Actors Guild Award, a BAFTA, and a Critics’ Choice Award among them.
Phoenix’s season of dominance was punctuated by an Oscar acceptance speech keyed to a message of art transcending the score-keeping nature of trophy competitions and cancel culture.

‘Koala Rescue’.
Essential Media and the UK’s Parade Media are co-producing a one-hour documentary which chronicles the heroic efforts to save koalas during Australia’s summer from hell.
Commissioned by the Seven Network, Koala Rescue follows the work of volunteer firefighters, national park and wildlife officers, firemen, vets and nurses.
All profits from international sales handled by Parade Media will go to the Nsw Rural Fire Service’s bushfire disaster appeal. The doc will premiere in March.
The crew led by producer/director Max Uechtritz has been filming at a wildlife hospital, bushfire-ravaged Kangaroo Island and at various locations along the Eastern seaboard.
The film is described as a “story of heartbreak and hope – where the spirit of dedicated koala carers triumphs above the white noise of political obfuscation and climate change denial.”
Essential Media Gm Brendan Dahill, who is serving as executive producer with David Alrich, said: “The...

Riri Williams’ self-titled series Ironheart may have wrapped up last November, but readers will hardly have time to miss the M.I.T. prodigy as she makes her return in April’s 2020 Ironheart, a two-issue story written by Morbius scribe Vita Ayala and Queen of Bad Dreams‘ Danny Lore, who also co-wrote Dynamite’s latest James Bond comic together.
The micro-series will serve as a tie-in to this year’s six-part Iron Man 2020 event from Amazing Spider-Man penmen Dan Slott and Christos Gage, along with the three-part Force Works 2020, the two-part Machine Man 2020, the two-part Rescue 2020, the two-part iWolverine 2020 (formerly titled Weapon.Exe 2020), and the standalone Iron Age 2020.
The event sees Arno Stark, the rightful heir to the Stark family name, taking up the mantle of Iron Man to crush an uprising of artificial intelligence and sentient robots demanding equal rights and liberation from human servitude. At the same time,...

Gwyneth Paltrow has a lot on her plate these days. She’s an Oscar-winning actor, mother, businesswoman and produces a line of candles that smell like her vagina. Even so, for someone who’s appeared in multiple McU movies over the last ten years, you’d think she would remember them a bit better. Last summer she forgot she was in Spider-Man: Homecoming, she couldn’t remember who Sebastian Stan was, forgot that Samuel L. Jackson was a big player in the McU and, despite having quite a sizeable role in it, didn’t see Avengers: Endgame.
That forgetful streak has now continued at the recent Critics’ Choice Awards. Paltrow recently turned heads on the front of Harper’s Bazaar when she wore an honestly pretty damn cool sculpted chest piece by Tom Ford (which reminded me quite a bit of her Rescue armor from Endgame). Zendaya then turned up at...

Avengers: Endgame treated fans to pretty much everything they could’ve wanted, but even in a 3-hour movie the filmmakers could only squeeze in so much. For instance, Avengers: Infinity War kicked off with Thanos besting Hulk in a brawl, something which begged to be resolved with a rematch in the sequel. However, no such duel occurred. But now, this newly-revealed concept art teases what could’ve been.
The artwork was shared at D23 over the weekend, with some snaps of the pieces soon ending up online, courtesy of Reddit user WilderOrcada. One shows what you might call the Iron Family – Iron Man, Rescue, War Machine and Spider-Man – blasting through the sky, while another captures a moving kiss between Tony and Pepper on the battlefield. The most satisfying, though, has to be the concept art of Smart Hulk finally getting the better of the Mad Titan with a mean right hook.

China’s internet is thrilled by news that Marvel appears to be insisting on casting an ethnic Chinese actor as Shang-Chi in the master of kung fu’s own spinoff film and has begun scouting out candidates for the role.
Variety reporter Justin Kroll tweeted Sunday that Marvel is apparently “putting out test offers for a group of men in their 20s” for its “Shang-Chi” movie. He added that the studio has “been adamant to reps offering up their clients for the role” that candidates “have to be of Chinese ancestry,” with no other Asian ancestry accepted.
Twitter is blocked on China’s highly censored internet, but that hasn’t stopped the tweet from going viral in the mainland. Users have screen-grabbed it and spread it on China’s parallel Weibo platform, where the hashtag “Shang-Chi casting” has since been viewed 100 million times, and the hashtag “Marvel’s first Chinese...
