OMG

Did not expect this. I hate shows that's about kids because it's always childish and the acting is never that good but wow the kid did a great job and the father of course. Very emotional episode definitely gonna continue this series. Great job Netflix,Well done.

Amazingly surprising

I'm not used to rate episodes in series, but this one was so special and well-done.

It was a mix of sadness and happiness while I was watching without expectations.

I didn't agreed with some choices in the plot (at least in the first episode) But I know what happened is only for the storyline go fluidly...

Great actors, the protagonist has such a talent and all the amazing scenarios netflix used made me feel homesick. Hope next episodes keep doing great as this did.

Spoilers

Warning: Spoilers
As lovely as it was annoying to find the hybrids more plausible than the father sheltering him, . Even the most gentle soul ,would know to step the f up and at least create a more elaborate hiding space . They are not hiding out from society, they are isolating during an apocalypse and planes could see them to drop ominous fliers wtf?

Still , I cant bare a 7.

Good story, horrible pacing
originalgamer-328697 June 2021
The elements of the story in this episode are pretty good to start with. The acting, visuals, cinematography, and world building are all done pretty well but what draws me out sometimes is this episodes need to rush every single second of the screen, leading to several glaring pacing issues. With that said, there is still lots to enjoy and get invested in, especially with each of these characters and the journey they will take.

Welcome to the world of GUS and PUBBA
"Step into an apocalyptic world where two extraordinary events occur simultaneously: the birth of hybrid babies and the outbreak of a deadly virus. What makes it intriguing is that the virus only affects humans, while the hybrid babies remain unharmed. In this gripping series, a determined father embarks on a quest to protect his hybrid children, despite widespread belief that they are the cause of the virus. As the story unfolds, the truth behind the connection between the babies and the virus becomes the focal point. The show is masterfully crafted, capturing your attention from start to finish and seamlessly immersing you in this post-apocalyptic realm. It's an impeccably executed work of fiction that gradually draws the viewer in, leaving them captivated throughout." The dear baby GUS and his father PUBBA will melt your heart for sure.

Too many plot holes
gjenevieve25 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
There are too many plot holes in Out of the Deep Woods. How does the dad have all the clothes his kid needs from babyhood to age 9? He only had the one backpack. Where did he get all the shoes? After all those years, how were his own clothes still just fine? Way too unrealistic for the two of them to have lived that long with just the few things he had in the backpack. Hopefully it gets better.

A great show with some major problems
rich-1216915 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I know im late to the game. But when i heard season 1 really didnt go anywhere I decided not to watch it. But not as a season 2 is out it must go somewhere. So im watching this first episode and its not bad. But

How did the father Die? It makes no sense. First of all..the father..is probably the worst person Ive ever seen. Sure he raised the boy somewhat good. But he carries around weaponized versions of the virus that killed everyone? And then he trips on it, killing himself. Not only is that a sick, sick man..But he is a complete moron to have stabbed himself with his own virus...

Unless you think the other man stabbed him...which makes no sense because he never came back looking for resources or the kid..

So that means he really did stab himself..and won a darwin award in the process.

Disturbing the flow
DanyDanyShopper29 April 2023
Season two. Seems like this show has ran into the same problem that many shows deal with going from one season to another where the believe that things are not set in stone after setting them in stone. Where original choices are abandoned and changed thinking that most viewers would not care. Which might be true. Or maybe the team working on the project changed? Smells like many cooks in the kitchen with out a clear direction of someone leading the production. It feels like many choices were an after thought in the second season. Which wouldn't be a problem if they didn't compromise the main choices and the changes were miner, but changing the kids and their designs from one cliff hanger to the first episode of the second season are huge changes, which disturbs the flow and make me focus on that aspect, looking for all the changes they made. Which ruins the fantasy and makes the show less enjoyable.

This kid is so dumb
nnojarova23 February 2023
I am sorry to say that, but the kid character is written super annoying. Zero survival instinct, discipline and critical thought. If I was behaving like that as a child, I would of not survived. I guess the kid is lucky to be raised by a nice father, so it did not have to worry about consequences all the time, but living in hiding should of taught him better. The character is just not believable under the circumstances. Makes you angry, because you are rooting for him to survive, and he keeps doing everything possible not to. Teaches bad behavior all together, kids who are let live acting like that turn into irresponsible, clueless and spoiled adults. Sorry for the rant, but really wanted to like this show and so far I am just passionately annoyed.

Would have could have
scramblewithme19 September 2021
Base on reviews, I decided to give this show a shot. Out of the deep woods could've been a LOT better. The father is great, so sweet. BUT GUS IS OBNOXIOUS!! He's a a total brat and NEVER obeys! I hate him. I really hope it (GUS) gets better!!!
